Gakpo invites the former Man Utd boss to watch him as Liverpool VIP guest against Chelsea

CODY GAKPO invited former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to watch him in action against Chelsea.

The Dutchman started on the bench at Anfield for the Blues' trip.

And he had a special spectator in the stands when commentators revealed Van Gaal was a VIP guest of his.

The former United boss watched on as Chelsea were beaten 4-1 and fans joked that he was eyeing Mauricio Pochettino's job.

One said: “Louis van Gaal waiting in line for Chelsea manager.”

Another added: “Is Van Gaal replacing Pochettino or did he just come to watch the match.”

Van Gaal spent two years at Old Trafford from 2014 to 2016 and left with an FA Cup to his name.

He retired after his spell in Manchester, but returned in 2021 to take charge of the Netherlands for a year.

Van Gaal resigned after the World Cup in the winter of 2022 and has since disappeared from the managerial field after revealing a battle with prostate cancer.

But since October he has been working as an advisor at Ajax.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is also preparing for the next step in his career after announcing he will leave at the end of the season.

Fans were concerned that Van Gaal would be at Anfield as a potential successor to Klopp.

One said: “What is Van Gaal doing at Anfield? I hope he doesn't take over from Klopp.”

Another said: “Don't tell me Liverpool are in contact with Van Gaal.”
