Coronation Street fans go wild as Steve McDonald hints at his ex-wife’s return to the soap after almost two decades
Coronation Street fans were left excited about the possible return of one character after watching Wednesday’s episode.
Steve McDonald – played by Simon Gregson – was chatting to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) in the Rovers Return when she asked him what he missed most about owning the iconic pub.
As he joked, he missed the most “beer on tap,” and the conversation turned to his four ex-wives.
Steve is currently married to Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) – they previously married in 2012 before divorcing and re-married in 2018.
He first married Vicky McDonald (Chloe Newsome) in 1995, before walking down the aisle with Karen Phillips (Suranne Jones) in 2001.

Steve and Karen married in 2001, before Suranne Jones left the beloved soap in 2004 after four years
Steve then married Becky Granger (Katherine Kelly) in 2009, before marrying Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) in 2015.
Daisy asked Steve in the pub during Wednesday’s episode: “Who was your least favorite gambler?” as he replied, “Tracy.”
She then asked, “Which of your four ex-wives do you miss the most?”
He immediately responded, “Karen, next question.”
Daisy continued, “If you could go back in time and marry just one of them, who would you choose?” while Steve didn’t respond before she was distracted.
Steve’s mention of Karen was enough to get fans excited about a possible return, despite him only mentioning her name.
One person posted: ‘Coronation street… Karen macdonald… So tonight… Steve admits Karen was his favorite woman… Is this a sign… is Karen aka Suranne Jones coming back? [sic]’
Another commented: ‘The woman Steve Macdonald would remarry, Karen #Corrie.’

Suranne left Corrie in 2004 after four years in the soap.
She has had an incredible TV career, starring in shows like Doctor Foster, The Secret Of Crickley Hall, Unforgiven, Maryland and more.
Suranne recently starred in the second series of BBC drama Vigil alongside Game Of Thrones actress Rose Leslie.
