Danniella Westbrook has revealed her father Andrew has died after a battle with dementia.

The 50-year-old actress confirmed on social media that her father Andrew passed away after battling the disease for several years.

Danniella tweeted in a snap with her dad, writing: 'Holding our hands until the end. Rest in peace, Dad.

“Jay and I will forever hold you in our hearts, and so will our children. We love you.. [heart and prayer emojis] (sic)'

The actress recently admitted that her father was in particularly poor health.

Danniella has been open about her father's health issues in recent years.

In December 2022, Danniella revealed she was planning to spend Christmas with her father.

She wrote on Instagram: 'She captioned the photo: 'Wonderful day spent with my dad. So glad his medication is working and keeping the dementia at bay.

'I'm looking forward to spending Christmas Night and Boxing Day together. At 49, I'm still a daddy's boy and I love his company so much.'

The actress took to Instagram on Father's Day 2022, as she paid a glowing tribute to her “amazing” dad amid his dementia battle.

She wrote on the photo-sharing platform at the time: 'Happy Father's Day to the wonderful men in my life.

'The first is my father, who has dementia but fortunately still remembers us all. Thank you dad for being wonderful all our lives and we love you.”

The soap star also admitted that her father – who worked as a taxi driver – and her mother were both “very loving” to her during her younger years.

However, Danniella revealed that they were both initially skeptical about her acting ambitions.

Danniella – who first appeared on 'EastEnders' in 1990 – told the Observer newspaper: 'I came from a very loving family – you know, 2.4 kids with a Volvo – and I was very horsey. I used to ride every weekend.

'But I always wanted to be famous. My mother and father thought I would grow out of it, but that didn't happen.'
