Eamonn Holmes debunks Phillip Schofield’s ‘lies, lies, lies’

Eamonn Holmes has launched a new attack on Phillip Schofield, insisting he doesn’t believe the former ITV star’s claim that he has made ‘one mistake’ in his 40-year career.

In a bombshell interview last week, Phillip said he thought his career was over and that he had “lost everything” after admitting he lied about his relationship with a man who worked on This Morning.

Phillip’s former colleague Eamonn, speaking on his GB News program today, called for “anyone who watches today and has kissed Phillip Schofield, let us know.”

He added: “He said in his 40 years of broadcasting he’s made one mistake, he’s had one kiss he shouldn’t have.

Elsewhere in the show, Eamonn told GB News showbiz presenter Ellie Phillips: “We’re not supposed to criticize him in case he does something to himself, but he still thinks he can continue to lie, lie, lie say.

“He has admitted that he is a liar. You should see the emails, texts, and messages I’ve received in the past week. I think he is very lucky.

“Like everyone else, he lied to me. I was happy to stand by him until I found out he lied… This isn’t about him being gay, not at all.”

Eamonn also criticized Jeremy Clarkson for defending Phillip over the weekend, saying “Clarkson didn’t work there, what does he know?”

In last week’s interviews, Phillip, who was dropped by ITV and his talent agency YMU after confessing to the Mail about the ‘ill-advised but not illegal relationship’, said he was ‘utterly heartbroken and ashamed’.

Schofield told the BBC the young man, who briefly worked as a runner on This Morning, was 20 when he first had any sexual contact with him.

He told The Sun they were friends and then in 2017 – three years before he came out as gay – “something happened that just changed it.”

The former presenter said there was “a consensual moment” in his dressing room after a show and “it was mutual”.

He added that he was not in a “love relationship” with the man and “it wasn’t a relationship, we weren’t boyfriends, we were buddies.”

He added, “I was really struggling with my sexuality at the time leading up to what happened.” The pair had “five or six romantic encounters” over a period of about six months.

It comes as Holly Willoughby returns to the This Morning couch today amid questions about whether she’ll name her former co-host as she makes an “honest personal statement” about the scandal.

Insiders say she is “worried” about getting back in front of the camera, but is “determined to see the show through these unprecedented times.”

Nearly a million people got to watch her return to the couch with co-host Josie Gibson after Phillip revealed she had ignored his texts and begged her forgiveness.

Yesterday, she posted a cryptic message online urging others to “maintain a positive perspective.”
