“I'm going for a walk with Optimus,” Musk wrote the video.

Many fans were thrilled with the brief footage of the humanoid.

“The gait looks much more natural than I expected,” one person wrote.

“Love these Optimus updates. Great to see the improvements,” said another.

There were other fans who expressed their concerns and joked about the end of the world.

“This isn't going to go over well,” one viewer wrote, also posting a photo of a terrifying scene from the Terminator movie.

“Hasn't anyone seen the movie IROBOT?!” another concerned person exclaimed.

While one person simply wrote: “Kill it with fire.”

That comment alone received 199 likes and Musk's first post received 165,000 likes.

Several users joked that the robot walked just like President Joe Biden.

The 15-second video shows the life-size black robot walking around a room with a few observers.

Tesla unveiled its Optimus Gen 2 robot in December 2023.

He is said to be 6 feet tall and weighs 121 pounds.

One of Musk's goals for his humanoid bots is for them to take over laborious tasks from humans.

The Tesla CEO also said he would like the robots to become companions for people.

“It could develop a unique personality over time. It's not that all robots are the same.

“That personality could evolve to suit the owner, or whatever you want to call it,” Musk said Lex Fridman podcast.

He also said the bots could do “repetitive and boring work” and could one day become “the perfect friend.”

Tesla first announced the concept for its robot in 2021 and unveiled the prototype in 2022.

Musk previously said the robot would cost no more than $20,000, although an exact price was never revealed.
