A FATCAT energy boss whose company said customers should cuddle a pet to keep warm is building a spa in his £3.5million home.

Ovo Energy founder Stephen Fitzpatrick, 46, already has a pool house and a tennis court.

He said in planning documents that his new 1,200 sq m gym and spa would “complement existing leisure facilities”.

As part of the same application, Mr. Fitzpatrick was allowed to build a greenhouse and a walled garden on his extensive grounds Gloucestershire estate.

Cotswold The district council also granted retroactive permission for a 25m² property manager’s office, six visitor parking spaces and storage containers – after these had already been built.

But despite Mr Fitzpatrick’s extravagance, Ovo’s sister company SSE Energy advised customers with problems to cuddle pets and eat porridge to keep warm without turning up the heating.

“We made a mistake.”
