ERIK TEN HAG has warned wayward star Marcus Rashford to get his life in order.

Manchester United's no-nonsense manager has disciplined the England frontman after he partied until the early hours last Friday and then missed training.

Now Dutchman Ten Hag has warned Rashford, 26, and his entire squad to remember what it means to represent the club.

Ahead of the Premier League trip to Wolves, Ten Hag said: “First of all, the players at this level have to fend for themselves.

“That is what you can demand from the player.

“The player must know what is good and what is not good.

“If you want to play top football, it just requires a certain way of life. Always.”

The Red Devils boss scoffed at the suggestion that this message needs to be reinforced in his dressing room.

He said, “No, come on. We are talking about top football players.

“I don't have to train them anymore. If you play for Man United, they need to know.”

Ex-Ajax boss Ten Hag said help was available for Rashford at the club if he needed it for other issues, but reiterated that the player himself must take responsibility.

He said, “Of course. That's part of the job of supporting your players, but we also have people in this club who help the players with that. But as I said before: as a player at Manchester United you have to manage yourself.

“You have to take responsibility for your performance and your performance in the team – that's what it's all about.

“Manchester United is all about winning football matches. It's actually not that complicated.”

Rashford has been fined two weeks' wages – £650,000 – after it emerged he had been in Belfast until the early hours of Friday before flying back to Manchester on a private jet.

The England star then called in sick and missed training.

Rashford's party rush comes just as new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his top adviser, Sir Dave Brailsford, are trying to improve the culture at the club.

The forward was subsequently left out of the squad for Sunday's 4-2 FA Cup win at Newport, but is back in the squad after meeting Ten Hag on Monday.

And the Old Trafford manager does not believe Rashford playing at Molineux would send the wrong message to the player or the dressing room.

Ten Hag explains: “So I didn't pick him on Sunday. We draw a line and we move on from there

“He has taken responsibility. Case closed.”
