New Delhi: Afghanistan's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz opened up the widespread comparison of Rinku Singh with legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni. Rinku has proven to be one of the best finishers since last year. His ability to perform under pressure has made him a star in both IPL and international cricket. Many cricketers and former stars have hailed the young star saying he reminds them a lot of MS Dhoni.

However, his KKR teammate Gurbaz feels that both Rinku and Dhoni are great but both have different places in the team. In an exclusive chat with India.com, Gurbaz praised Rinku and opened up about his comparison with Dhoni.

He said: “He is a very hardworking man. I mean, he does so much work. Gym, ground training, lots of hitting, lots of paddling. If you work hard, you will definitely get results. So he's the guy who works so hard. We played against each other once, that was fun too and he played great for India. And he even won the games for India. To be honest, he is a great finisher but people compare him with MS (Dhoni).

“Yes, we know MS is one of the best in the world because he played a lot for India. So people compared MS and Rinku. I say yes, Rinku can be a good finisher for India, like when MS Dhoni was there. But again, I can say that MS Dhoni had a different place and Rinku had a different place in the team. Yes, Rinku Singh is doing very well for India. I also wish him much success in the future. I think he will do something better for India,” Gurbaz added.

Rinku Singh is one of the most favorite stars of this generation. He made a name for himself with his performances in IPL and his consistent performances for the Men in Blue side are slowly cementing his sport in the Indian team for the shortest format of the game.

Currently representing the David Warner-led Dubai Capitals in the ongoing edition of the ILT20 2024, Gurbaz is performing well and is a strong part of Dubai. DUB is in fourth place on the points table with two wins in five matches. They would look to bounce back with some wins in the remainder of the tournament and qualify for the knockout stages.
