Although you might think her life would be idyllic, Irish farmer Katie Gleeson has debunked that myth.

Better known as @katieinthecountryshe regularly shares fragments from daily life as a farmer, where her days are filled with mud, milking and herding cows.

However, the mother-of-three recently took a break from this and explained to her 4,000 followers how her life had changed since marrying a farmer.

The hilarious sketch has been viewed more than 186,000 times, with Katie sharing some rather notable negatives as she took part in the viral 'we are…' trend on Tiktok.

Her first complaint was that her husband was constantly late when dealing with new calves, sickly cows and broken tractors.

“We are farm women… when we get a message saying they are going to be ten minutes late, we know they mean at least an hour,” she teased in the viral video.

Later in the short clip, the content creator revealed that marital life was often interrupted in the middle of the night due to emergencies.

Tucked away in her bed, she joked: “We are peasant women… Of course, it is completely normal to wake up in the middle of the night and find your husband gone.”

Even a modest shopping spree at Co-Op wasn't easy for the busy mum, as she explained she often had to visit the vets before she could do any shopping.

Despite her tongue-in-cheek complaints, the influencer also used the viral trend to hit back at misogynistic stereotypes about agriculture.

Unfortunately, farming is traditionally seen as a man's job, with children singing nursery rhymes about old MacDonald and his various animals.

Katie playfully revisited this idea, filming herself mucking out the barns and showing how much work she put into the family farm.

“We're farm women… of course we knew how to make a bed,” Katie told fans as she pushed fresh hay for the dairy cows.

As the influencer wrapped up the viral video, she returned to the idea of farm wives simply “helping” their husbands run the farm.

“We are farm women, of course we make a valuable contribution to running our family farm,” she said emphatically, adding: ..but society only tells us that we are 'big' women because we 'help'.”

Unsurprisingly, other women had experienced the same forms of misogyny and used the responses to share their experiences.

One viewer wrote: “The 'helping' part always irritates me!”

Some even shared their frustrations with their lives, while another added: “You forgot to mention that you can only book a holiday if it's not silage season. [or] calving season.”

A third then listed their complaints, writing: “No holidays…parents evening/playing alone…calling other farmers on Christmas Day for a hand with something [and] feeding the five thousand during the impromptu harvest.”

We suspect that life on the farm is not so peaceful.
