“This is a family friendly dream,” said another.

“Wow. Almost every collaboration you can imagine,” a third agreed.

Someone else wrote: “This has to be the biggest collaboration Fortnite has ever done.”

“This is incredible and will be great for Fortnite fans and Disney fans alike,” added another impressed gamer.

“It will be a way to combine the two worlds and turn anyone who is only a fan of one or the other into a fan of both,” they continued.

“Fortnite is truly becoming the one and only metaverse.”

A fellow user commented: “Unreal how Fortnite never runs out of content, so impressive.”

Others added: “This is wild” and “This is huge”.

Disney CEO Bob Iger wrote: “Our exciting new relationship with Epic Games will bring together Disney's beloved brands and franchises with the wildly popular Fortnite.

“[This will create] a transformational new games and entertainment universe.

“This marks Disney's largest ever entry into the world of gaming and offers significant opportunity for growth and expansion.

“We can't wait for fans to experience the Disney stories and worlds they love in groundbreaking new ways.”

Epic's CEO Tim Sweeney has said that the companies are working together to create a “persistent, open and interoperable ecosystem” with Disney content in Fortnite.

Meanwhile, there are also plans to stream an exclusive version of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert film on Disney+, as a sequel to the hit film Moana was also announced.

And Disney is brainstorming a new sports streaming platform with rivals Fox and Warner Bros Discovery.

It comes as an attempt to boost popularity after figures showed Disney's streaming service had lost 1.3 million subscribers following a price increase in October 2023.

However, profits rose by almost half in September to £1.5 billion.

Dan Coatsworth, of financial experts AJ Bell, said: “Disney spins a lot, and the challenge is to make sure none of them fall to the ground.”

Mr Coatsworth added: “Doing more in the sector presents an opportunity for Disney.”
