‘STRONG GOLD’

A resident of a nearby pub who visited Mr Taylor previously said: ‘Carly struck gold when she married Adam. She is his second wife.

‘She once had a hair and nail business, now she runs a business and real estate empire.

“She has done very well for herself and both she and Adam work very hard.

“But she also lives a luxurious life and likes to travel in luxury to beautiful places.”

A family member also said it MailOnline: “I think she thinks she’s better than everyone else since she married for money.

“She seems to go here and everywhere, judging by Facebook.”

A second person claimed the cafe owner “was crazy about shopping for designer handbags”.

IMPRESSIVE PORTFOLIO

The married couple have an extensive portfolio of businesses and properties and are “always looking” for more.

Mrs Taylor owns a second pub, the Sarah Mansfield Country Inn – a pub in Willey, Warwickshire, just a stone’s throw from their luxury digs.

Her stepson previously revealed that the drunk had been arrested by the company in 2020, rather than in a personal capacity.

The pub was once described as the “thriving heart of the community”, for locals in the rural village.

However, it was reported that Taylor allegedly gutted the pub’s interior after purchasing the site from a brewery. The times.

Residents had tried to stop these plans, but their objections were quashed on appeal.

A disappointed local told The Times that the popular watering hole was now “just four walls and it looks like it is waiting to collapse”.

Then the couple had plans to build houses on part of the pub’s car park, but this was denied by Rugby Borough Council.

Mr and Mrs Taylor also had their eyes on a former quarry at Dunton Bassett, Leicestershire.

The pair had hoped to create a holiday center with a farm shop and café, 33 holiday lodges and a 35-hectare solar farm.

A planning application submitted to Harborough District Council revealed that they plan to completely redevelop part of the land previously used as Slip Inn Quarry.

It is ATE Farms who had designs to turn the lawn into a holiday home area.

Office buildings and industrial floor space were also included in the application, along with an electric car charging facility for 20 vehicles.

Meanwhile, four-bedroom holiday homes would be available for tourists.

HORROR BLOW

The Crooked House was purchased by the couple from former manager Lee Goodchild in 2023.

But disaster struck just weeks later when the café went up in flames and was destroyed “without permission”. by a team of excavators.

Staffordshire and West Midlands Fire Brigade tried their best to bring the fire on Himley Road under control but were unable to save the historic landmark.

The shocking fire was quickly ruled arson Policeand the Taylor’s were investigated.

Now the council has issued an enforcement notice ordering the couple to rebuild the much-loved pub by February 2027, after ruling it had been an “unlawful demolition”.

Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street confirmed: “An injunction has been issued against the owners for unlawful demolition.

“They have been ordered to rebuild the pub to its pre-fire condition, just as we lobbied.”

The Crooked House was nominated for Grade II listed protection in the days before it was reduced to a crumbling char.

If it was allowed, Mr and Mrs Taylor would have needed council permission to demolish it.

The couple now has 30 days to appeal the injunction and three years to comply.

Marco Longhi, the MP for Dudley North, said in a statement: “The demolition of the Crooked House has shocked our community here in Dudley and across the Black Country, so it is fantastic news that an injunction has been served on the owners for demolition without permission.

‘The owners of the Scheve Huis are now obliged to restore the site to its former glory and I will not rest until the Scheve Huis has been rebuilt brick by brick.

“Let this be a warning to anyone who wants to launch an attack on our heritage sites – you won’t get away with it.”

Former manager Lee, 46, thinks the ruling is ‘excellent news’ and ‘would love to be a pub again’.

“Maybe they have it as a kind of museum, but whatever happens, I hope the public will see The Crooked House restored to its former glory,” he said.

“A lot of people have been fighting for this day and it certainly seems like a step in the right direction. We’ll see what happens from here.”

It comes as Lee felt cheated out of the pub’s demolition after being assured that “nothing could be done to the building or grounds”.

He explained that this had played “a huge role” in handing over the popular venue to the Taylors.

“I loved running this pub, it was such an iconic building. It’s horrible to see what happened. Seeing the scenes of the fire and the bulldozing were disturbing,” Lee added .

Since the horrific fire, three men aged 33, 51 and 66 have been arrested and released on bail.

A woman aged 34 and two men aged 44 and 23 were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent or being reckless as to whether life was in danger. They were also released on bail.

And it was said that the excavator razed the burned ruins to the ground had been hired before the fire.

Lawyers had started investigating whether there were any possible violations of the 1990 Spatial Planning Act after the demolition.

Leader of the Council, Councilor Roger Lees, said: “A huge amount of time and resources has been spent investigating the unauthorized demolition of the Crooked House.

“We have had great support from the local community, our MPs and the Mayor of the West Midlands, and from the campaign group whose aim is to see the Crooked House returned to its former glory, which is the main aim of the enforcement notice. ”
