Goulburn Weir gyrocopter crash: two on board after light aircraft crashes to ground

Two people have been injured after an engineless light aircraft crashed in central Victoria.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident on the corner of Snipey Rd and Murchison-Goulburn Weir Rd at around 8am on Sunday, where they found a man in his 70s suffering from injuries.

It is understood the two people were flying a gyro helicopter over Goulburn Weir before running into trouble and crashing.

A gyrocopter, or autogyro, is a form of helicopter that does not use an engine to turn the rotor, but instead uses airflow from beneath the cabin to provide upward propulsion.
