Haryana schools up to class 5 CLOSED due to cold wave conditions, physical classes will resume here

New Delhi: North India has been experiencing cold wave conditions for the past few weeks and maximum and minimum temperatures have dropped, setting records every day. The severe cold is accompanied by dense fog, causing poor or no visibility and this also has consequences for aviation and rail activities in the North. Amid these circumstances, several states are extending the winter holidays for the schools, because it is very difficult for young children to be in their educational institutions early in the morning. Amid the persistent cold, The Haryana government has declared a school holiday for up to and including class 5, for this entire week. Read on to know when physical classes will resume.

As mentioned earlier, schools in Haryana have been closed for students up to class 5 due to the cold wave conditions in the state. The state Directorate of School Education has declared holiday till January 27, 2024 and physical classes are expected to resume from Monday, January 29, 2024.

IMD predicts dense fog in North India

The weather bureau had on Monday forecast that a dense to very dense layer of fog is expected to engulf some parts of north India – Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and northern Madhya Pradesh – over the next five days. The weather department had further stated that Delhi and other adjoining areas may also experience dense to very dense fog in the next 24 hours, prompting the weather department to issue a yellow alert for Tuesday.

Temperatures in northern India have been severely low, especially in the states of Delhi NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The IMD has also said that the minimum temperatures in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, South UP and West and Northeast MP will be between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius . It is very likely that 'cold day to severe cold day' conditions will continue in Haryana in the coming days.
