Yours Clothing will close its Chesterfield branch this weekend

It is owned by AK Retail, which recently acquired fashion brand Evans and ailing retailer M&Co.

But now Yours will pull down the shutters on its branch in the Vicar Lane Shopping Center in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, on February 10.

Shoppers took to social media to share their sadness at the decision, with some labeling it as 'embarrassing' for the city.

One Facebook user said: “Chesterfield is becoming a ghost town.

'It used to be a beautiful, vibrant city.

“The restaurants and pubs are still there, no wonder people shop out of town.

Another shopper said, “I like going to a store to try things on. I'm going to miss this one.'

A third added: “The only clothes shop I use in town. There's very little reason to go now.”

The Sun has contacted Yours for comment.

Sales volumes fell 3.2% in December, Office for National Statistics data showed, compared with a 1.4% increase a month earlier.

Several major chains are pulling down the shutters for the last time this month.
