Spinning television! Hilarious moment cat jumps on screen while owner is being interviewed live on BBC News

This is the hilarious moment when a cheeky cat jumped onto the screen while their owner was being interviewed live on BBC News.

News anchor Sally Bundock questioned royal historian Marlene Koenig this morning about Prince Harry’s ongoing Supreme Court case against the publisher of the Daily Mirror.

The pundit appeared on BBC News just after 5am UK time via video call from her home in Virginia.

Just a few minutes into their conversation, Marlene’s tabby cat Fleur jumped onto the historian’s lap to get her attention.

Fortunately, Marlene anticipated her cat’s actions and grabbed hold of her cat and quickly lowered her back to the ground in one swift movement.

While undeterred by her cat’s startling appearance at the time, Marlene ended the interview by apologizing for her opportunistic pet.

She said, “I just want to apologize for my cat jumping into the picture!”

Sally reassured the historian and said, “Marlene, I have to say that there are a lot of cats on this show.

“I have regular employees whose cats want to be the star of the show. We have no problem with that!’

After the interview, amused viewers enjoyed the hilarious, unscripted moment on Twitter.

TV critic Scott Bryan shared the gaffe with his 101,000 followers, writing, “INCREDIBLE CAT CAMEO.

‘The way the presenter works. The way the contributor doesn’t get nervous. Just great scenes all around.’

One viewer responded, “The speed with which she grabs the cat makes me think she’s probably done this before when interviewed.”

Another added: “The reflexes do! That’s not her first rodeo.’

Meanwhile, a third said: “I think if I had been the presenter I should have said ‘great rescue!”‘

“Oh, that’s just awesome,” gushed a fourth.

“What a start to the week,” added a fifth viewer.

Marlene later tweeted, “Fleur went with me for a while. I had to push her off the table!’
