A hilarious video shared by officers in Romano di Lombardia served as a public message against tipping.

The clip, titled “Lost Something?”, shows the two old benches lying in a field on the side of the road.

The video then quickly cuts to the same couches being dumped back in the man’s yard and tumbling out of a dump truck as an officer watches.

A man is then seen pulling a pillow out of the dump truck by hand after it fails to fall out with the rest of the couch.

The original video had a message in Italian: “Something lost? The police will find it and bring it to your house.”

It ends with the phrase “always at the service of the citizen”.

The resident, a 36-year-old from Rimini, claimed he had merely left it there and that he would come back to collect it.

There were no cameras around, so the police spoke up neighbors and examined images of nearby roads.

They recorded the passage of a truck along the provincial road, with a sofa loaded on the back.

The vehicle turned onto the street, where it eventually dumped the furniture and returned shortly after without the couch.

Meanwhile, a single mother in Britain has criticized Scrooge’s councilors tried to charge her £400 for tipping after leaving a cardboard box next to her bin.

Lizzy Lawton placed the container next to her dumpster for collection as she never received one recycling box.

But the mother was stunned when the fine notice was posted through her letterbox Stoke-on-Trent.

Samantha Arden, the grandmother of Lizzy’s five-year-old son, has now contacted the municipality, which has now withdrawn the fine.

She said Stokeon Trent Live: “It’s not right, it’s so close Christmas and Lizzy has very little income.

“It’s also my grandson’s fifth birthday and she has both to think about.

‘It’s a big piece money if she has my grandson’s clothes and accounts pay for.

“My grandson has a rare genetic problem and he constantly needs things and new clothes.

‘It’s one box, they could just take it with them. It doesn’t make sense, it’s ridiculous. The community should be ashamed.

“If they had given her a recycling box in the first place, it wouldn’t have been there.”

Samantha said Lizzy, however, “just lost a lot of money.” Universal credit changes, never received a recycling box.

Instead, she left the cardboard container next to her dumpster, hoping the workers would remove it.

But when she got home from the school run she discovered she had been fined £400.

She said: ‘You’d think the council could be a bit charitable, but no, the Scrooges expect them to pay £400 for a cardboard box.’

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has now waived Lizzy’s fine.

A spokesperson said: “We have reviewed the evidence in this regard and as a gesture of goodwill we will withdraw the fine on this occasion.

“However, we must emphasize that there are dedicated collection points for residents to drop off their recycling waste.”
