I was told I was ‘too old’ to get pregnant – but gave birth to a miracle baby at 45

A 45-year-old woman who was told she was ‘too old’ to conceive has welcomed a ‘miraculous’ baby boy – and she believes Viagra was the key to her success.

Carin Rockind, now 48, from Pennsylvania in the US, had been trying to have a baby for five years after she tied the knot with her husband, Josh Klur, 52.

The newlywed couple were devastated after Carin miscarried twice and were on the verge of giving up on their dreams of starting a family.

In a last ditch effort, Carin and Josh decided to try IVF. Just one round cost them $40,000, for which they took out a loan and received a $10,000 gift from a friend.

Carin used a 26-year-old egg donor and retrieved 20 viable eggs, but the couple was left with only one embryo – fertilized with Josh’s sperm – to implant.

It was then that Carin came across a YouTube video in which a woman claimed she had used Viagra – a drug made for men – to grow the lining of her uterus.

The mother of one said she inserted the drug into her vagina — only to discover weeks later she had become pregnant with her now two-year-old son Shay Rockind-Klur.

The mum, who is a women’s empowerment coach, said she was “overjoyed” to find out she was pregnant after miscarrying twice – and was told she was “too old” to have a baby to get.

“I really wanted to be pregnant, I believed my body could handle it,” she said. “I found a woman in Australia who put Viagra in her vagina and it helped her endometrium grow.

“I went to my doctor and asked about Viagra, but he told me he had never seen it work.

“I asked again and within three days my lining grew and we were good to go – my miracle baby is a Viagra product.” It felt like all our hard work had paid off.”

Carin said Shay is a ‘miracle baby’ and added: ‘This child wanted to be born. When you think about all the things that had to line up and all the things that went wrong, we’re super blessed.”

Before the birth of her son, Carin had two miscarriages.

She and Josh tied the knot in August 2014 and became pregnant in April of the following year. Howeverat the eight-week checkup, Carin received the terrible news that she had miscarried.

After a year of trying to conceive again, the couple visited a fertility doctor in 2017 and were told that Carin was “too old” to give birth.

The couple became pregnant again soon after – and miscarried.

At that point, Carin and Josh decided to try IVF, but despite retrieving 20 eggs from a donor, only one embryo remained.

As they prepared for the transfer, it became clear that Carin’s uterine lining was not growing and she was given medication to help.

She claims the medication didn’t work and after seeing a video of a woman using Viagra to grow her uterine lining, she decided to try it herself.

After asking her skeptical doctor for Viagra, Carin’s uterine lining grew within three days and they were ready to start the process.

She claims it worked – growing her liner so they could make the transfer in November 2019. Carin found out she was pregnant on November 11, 2019.

She said, “We felt a sense of relief and we just screamed. We put all our work down and went for a coffee, it felt like all our hard work, our money, our everything.

“We didn’t let the fear in. We would just be thankful for the whole nine months and believe that’s the point.”

Baby Shay was welcomed in 2020, but he couldn’t breathe on his own.

He was taken to the NICU where doctors discovered he lost half of his blood during birth and he received a blood transfusion.

Carin said, “He was in the NICU for six days and now we’re like, ‘Thank God.’ He is happy and healthy – he was a miracle baby.

“We’re super blessed, he’s hilarious, he’s been speaking paragraphs since he was two.” He’s got a lot of imagination – he’s very funny and can be very mischievous.’
