In good news for anyone who can’t bear the idea of slaving over a hot stove on Christmas Day, Iceland has announced the long-awaited return of its famous festive cake.

The British frozen food giants revealed the news to the delight of fans, after being absent from freezers for the past four Christmases.

The unique cake is highly sought after by shoppers because it contains an entire Christmas dinner – plus all the trimmings.

And those on a budget this festive season will be pleased to know that a box of two Festive Pies retails for £3, meaning you can essentially enjoy a Christmas dinner for just £1.50.

The pie’s shortcrust pastry contains pieces of diced turkey, a filling of sage and onions, and a large pig in a blanket: a pork cocktail sausage wrapped in pork belly.

And just like a traditional Christmas dinner, it wouldn’t be complete without delicious seasonal side dishes to top it all off.

In the Festive Cake you can also expect to find diced Brussels sprouts, peas, carrots and a sprinkle of sweetened dried cranberries – all topped with a buttery puff pastry top.

Andrew Staniland, Group Buying Director at Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse, said the festive creation is perfect for shoppers who want a piece of the Christmas action in the run up to and on December 25.

He added: ‘Since we launched the Festive Pie in 2019 we’ve been inundated with customers asking for a return, so we’re happy to be bringing it back this year.

‘An entire Christmas dinner covered in puff pastry. What’s not to love?

‘Perfect for those who want a piece of the festive action ahead of Christmas Day. We see that shoppers are already stocking up.”

A box of two Festive Pies costs £3.00 and is only available in store and online at Iceland and The Food Warehouse.

But you have to be quick, because the cheerful cake is only offered while supplies last.

The news comes as Iceland once again sent shoppers into a frenzy after releasing yet another Christmas item.

Shoppers have gone crazy with an ‘amazing’ new festive dessert made with one of Britain’s favorite chocolate bars.

Earlier this month, Facebook page NewFoodUK – where shoppers post about new products hitting supermarket shelves – shared an image of Iceland’s new Galaxy Yule Log.

The savvy shopper from Britain posted a photo with the sweet treat and wrote: ‘Galaxy Yule Log spotted at Iceland Foods.’

The post quickly received more than 2,500 ‘likes’ and hundreds of comments from enthusiastic foodies.

One person said: ‘Maybe I should get one, I love Galaxy chocolate.’

Another user, who had previously been excluded from the festive treat for the year, seemed to have a change of heart: ‘I know we weren’t going to get one but we need this!’

More people were super excited about Galaxy’s latest festive dessert, with one commenting: ‘Love Galaxy chocolate’.

Another user said the Christmas log ‘looks fantastic’, while another account described the cake as ‘delicious’ before inquiring about the price.

A self-confessed Christmas lover was also keen to sample the rich treat: ‘Love Yule can’t wait to try some’.

However, one user thought it was too chocolatey for him, saying: ‘Can be a bit sickly!’

Iceland’s new chocolate-flavoured Galaxy Christmas tree has proven so popular that it is currently out of stock, but shoppers are hoping to see it back on the site soon.

But not everyone was so convinced; some suggested the £10 price tag was too high for the festive season.

One user thought £10 was a bit too high. They joked: ‘Can be yours for just two mortgages and three horses!’
