Jacob Elordi was ‘really excited’ for that ‘Saltburn’ bathtub scene

“I was just really excited when I read that scene, because you don’t see that kind of stuff very often in mainstream movies,” the 26-year-old actor said. Stream wars in an interview in December 2023. “It’s just amazing that [writer and director] Emerald [Fennell] I was allowed to push those boundaries and expose such people, I think.”
In the film, Elordi plays the wealthy Felix Catton, who becomes the target of fellow classmate Oliver.Barry Keoghan) obsessive affection. Felix takes Oliver under his wing and takes him to his family estate, Saltburn, where Oliver gets a taste of how the other half lives. As their bond grows, so does Oliver’s obsession with Felix, which plays out in many twists and turns. The film was released in theaters in November 2023.
The particularly shocking bathtub scene, in which Oliver licks Felix’s bathwater, has conquered the internet in a short time. Elordi, meanwhile, avoids looking for reactions to his work.
“I haven’t really heard much because I’m trying to hide from it,” he told Stream Wars, adding that he did sneak in to witness an audience watching. Salt burn in the theatre. “I went to a screening of the film in Brisbane when it first played and it was incredible because everyone was engaged and gasping at the screen,” he recalls. I haven’t been in a movie like that for a long time.”
The bathtub scene has become such a viral pop culture moment that it even inspired a candle titled “The bath water candle by Jacob Elordi.” Elordi, for his part, made light of the NSFW scene earlier during the episode Salt burn press run. “I was very proud,” he joked Variety from the scene in November 2023. “I was very proud of Barry Keoghan soaking it up.”

In addition to the shock value, Salt burn is gaining momentum amid price talks. Both Keoghan and Rosamund Pike, who plays Elordi’s mother in the film, are both nominated for Golden Globes for the 2024 awards and could be recognized at the 2024 Academy Awards, which air in March. For his part, Elordi also received critical acclaim for his role as Elvis in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla.
