Jacob Elordi may have felt ‘dead inside’ while filming the movie Kissing position trilogy, but Taylor Zakhar Perez was more than happy to be there.

“I thought it was a shame because as far as I know everyone else had such a great experience,” Perez, 31, said. Variety in an interview on Friday, November 17. “It’s a shame that that was the case [Elordi’s] experience. Especially when those films came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that.”

The kissing booth first premiered in 2018 and also starred 26-year-old Elordi Joey King And Joel Courtney. Perez joined the cast for the franchise’s subsequent sequels, which arrived on Netflix in 2020 and 2021 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Perez said Variety that judging by the interactions of his own fans and the fact that he is stopped ‘everywhere’, he can see what The kissing booth “means to people and what it has brought them in such a dark time.” He added that for Elordi, the silver lining is that he “still made people laugh and feel good.”

Rethinking the past? Some actors aren’t proud of every project they’re a part of, even the ones that really boosted their careers. Elordi made headlines earlier this month when he revealed he didn’t want to make the films even “before” he started filming. GQ“Those films are ridiculous. They are not universal. They are an escape.”

The Priscilla star described the rom-com trilogy as “one for them, one for me” films – a Hollywood phrase describing actors who make one big budget film for money to give them the opportunity for smaller passion projects. Elordi noted that the concept of “one and one” was a “trap” he did not want to fall into.

“Because it could be fifteen for them, and none for you,” he explained. “You have no original ideas and you are dead inside. So it’s a nice dance. My ‘one for them’, I did it.

When asked if he had heard from his former co-stars about his comments about the films, Elordi said Variety earlier this week he did not say so, but made it clear that he is “incredibly grateful to everyone who was involved.”

This is not the first time Elordi has spoken out about his distaste for the Kissing position franchise. He told me before Esquire in 2021 that he felt “corny” and “terribly misunderstood” because of the films he has made in the past. “I had to prove that I was a serious actor,” he explained.

Elordi has since moved away from the rom-com genre and delved into more dramatic roles, including Nate Jacobs on HBO’s. Euphoria and Elvis Presley inside by Sophia Coppola Video from 2023 Priscilla, on which it is based Priscilla Presleys memoir from 1985, Elvis and me.

Earlier this month, Elordi opened up about playing a side of the King of Rock n Roll that some people might not want to see.

“For me it was portraying this person as she described him in those moments [Priscilla] described,” he said E! News at the time. When asked why he was “so good at playing troubled men,” Elordi replied, “I don’t know if they’re necessarily always troubled men.” I just enjoy playing complex people.’
