Jacqueline Jossa made a shocking appearance on EastEnders on Thursday night as Lauren Branning, while Thomas Law also returned as Peter Beale.

The actress, 30, left fans completely dumbfounded when she appeared on screen in the opening moments of the episode to visit the Beale family in their European home.

Jacqueline’s return came after her one-off return in the BBC soap for Dot Cotton’s funeral.

Her entry came when Michelle Collins returned to the soap as the infamous Cindy Beale, and her whereabouts became clear on Thursday’s episode.

Cindy returned to the soap opera in the closing moments of Wednesday’s episode, when she was finally revealed to be George Knight’s ex-wife Rose.

And on Tuesday’s episode, Cindy was seen with her long-suffering husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) living abroad with their son Peter Beale and grandson Louie.

Jacqueline was next seen arriving to visit Peter – who has been recast as former actor Thomas Law – and their son Louie.

When Jacqueline arrived, Cindy and Ian hurried off to hide from her before discovering that Cindy was still alive – 26 years after she was believed to have died in childbirth.

Fans were stunned by Jacqueline’s surprise return and took to Twitter to comment on the well-kept secret, while also gushing over Thomas being recast as Peter.

One person wrote: ‘EastEnders bringing back Thomas Law and Jacqueline Jossa is the best decision they’ve made!!’

Another said, “Oh hello Jacqueline Jossa,” while a third commented, “Jacqueline hasn’t missed a beat.”

A fifth added: “Happy to see Thomas Law and Jacqueline Jossa back on screen.”
