Jason Donovan, 55, shows he’s still a heartthrob 30 years after Neighbors’ heyday as he models tiny swim trunks on Bondi Beach

He was one of the best-known heartthrobs of the 1980s and had millions of fans with his role as Scott Robinson in Neighbours.

And Jason Donavon, 55, proved he was still a real hunk as he enjoyed a day at Bondi Beach on Monday.

Three decades after his appearance on the Australian soap, the actor continued to turn heads when he stripped down to a tiny pair of swimming trunks.

He showed off his toned frame in blue briefs as he enjoyed a dip in the ocean and also wore chipped black nail polish.

The Too Many Broken Hearts singer lives in West London and South Oxfordshire with his wife Angela and three children, but often returns to his native Australia.

Last year, Jason detailed his meticulous self-care routine, which includes regular massages, healthy eating, and even pedicures.

He explained how he stays fit and in control and likes to pamper himself with the occasional beauty or wellness treatment.

As for diet, he enjoys a drink of hot lemon to start the day before eating pasta or sushi for lunch and then a small evening meal consisting of tacos with guacamole.

He told The times: ‘I get up at 7 am and always start my day with warm water and lemon. In the morning I only eat fruits so that I don’t feel overweight as I am a big fitness person and like to go to the gym early.

‘I like to get a massage twice a week and enjoy a foot massage and having my nails done.

‘I have sushi or pasta for lunch. I’m a better person when I don’t drink alcohol. I sleep better, am happier, less anxious and more in control.

‘I don’t eat a big meal until I get home and then I like guacamole with salsa and taco chips or some prosciutto with melon and chicken liver pate.’

Jason is best known for playing Scott Robinson in Neighbors from 1986 to 1989, which he left to launch a career as a pop singer in 1988.

His character’s romance with co-star Kylie Minogue’s character Charlene Robinson was a highlight of the show, with Scott and Charlene’s wedding on July 1, 1987, watched by two million Australians.

Their Union was an even bigger draw when it aired in Britain a year later, attracting 19.6 million viewers, making it the third most-watched British show of 1988.

But while Jason is grateful that Neighbors helped him rise to fame, he insists he also owes some gratitude from the producers as he put in a lot of work during his time on the soap.

He told the Mirror this month: ‘It has given me a fantastic life. I will be in debt forever until then. But I put a lot of work into it. I owe it a little too.”

Kylie and Jason, who were dating in real life at the time, were household names in both countries, and went on to pursue music careers in the UK.

Their on-screen relationship began after Scott mistook Charlene for an intruder at his neighbor Madge Ramsay’s home, before eventually discovering she was Madge’s daughter.

After they married, the couple left Erinsborough and moved to Brisbane.

Kylie quit Neighbors in June 1988, after becoming the first person to win four Logie Awards in one year and the youngest ever recipient of a Gold Logie.

She went on to launch a phenomenally successful music career, selling more than 80 million albums worldwide.

After leaving Neighbors in 1989, Jason, like Kylie, pursued a pop career and while he may not have been as successful as his on-screen bride, he had a string of hits including Too Many Broken Hearts and Sealed With A Kiss.

Off-screen, the couple dated from 1986 to 1989, sharing a night of passion at a Travelodge.

They were so popular at the time that they even recorded the Christmas number 1 single Special For You.

In 2022, they returned to Neighbors for the final episode on Channel 5, with the soap also gaining attention in Australia after Channel 5’s refusal to continue funding it meant it could no longer continue. It was later announced that it would be making a comeback on Amazon Prime.
