John Stamos has heartbreakingly recalled the last dinner he shared with his ‘best friend’ Bob Saget – just a month before his death.

Bob became a star when he starred opposite John in Full House, the hit sitcom that ran for eight seasons on NBC from 1987 to 1995.

In January 2022, Bob shockingly died in his sleep at the age of 65 at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, after accidentally suffering blunt head trauma.

Now in a heartbreaking new interview on the Today show, John looked back on the last meal he was able to share with his old friend.

The dinner taught him that even though he was “always in a hurry,” he should take time to enjoy certain experiences. “If you’re with someone you love, you care about, slow down,” John said. ‘Take it easy. Order the cake.’

John’s last night out with Bob was a double date at a restaurant with their respective wives Caitlin McHugh and Kelly Rizzo.

“It was the last dinner and you never think, ‘This is the last time I see my best friend,’ you know, and this would be the last picture we ever took,” he said.

“But he was real, somehow he was everything I wanted from Bob in that moment,” the small-screen heartthrob explained. “You know, he was calm and didn’t listen or talk about himself so much.”

John, who became a household name on General Hospital before Full House, added, “And believe me, I was, you know, just as much of a pain in the ass as he was in a lot of ways.”

Over the course of that last dinner, John “realized I had grown too,” as he could happily laugh at the fact that it took “20 minutes” to get his picture taken with Bob, who endlessly worried about angles and or his ” neck fat’ was visible.

As they ate, the two men gushed over their wives and marveled, “How did two saps like us get lucky enough to have these two beautiful women – inside and out?”

At the end of dinner, John thought, “We have to go,” but Bob said, “Let’s order the cake,” and John relented and agreed to dessert and coffee.

John also shared the story of the loss of his own father, Bill Stamos, and enlisted Bob for the job of handling the funeral.

Much to the chagrin of John’s mother Loretta, Bob took the stage at the service and said: “Today’s specials are cake and c**k and we’re out of cake.”

Bob was found dead in his Orlando hotel room bed around 4:00 PM EST on January 9, 2022, after performing a stand-up performance in Jacksonville the night before, sources close to the investigation told TMZ.

Police saw no signs of drugs or foul play and it was initially suspected that he succumbed to a stroke or heart attack.

The following month, however, his family announced that medical examiners had ruled head trauma was the cause of death.

“They concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” the family’s statement said.

Florida medical examiner Joshua Stephany, MD confirmed this People magazine that Bob’s death was “the result of blunt head trauma.”

Blunt head trauma can cause death via cerebral hemorrhage, brain bruising, or asphyxiation while you are unconscious.
