His 2018-2021 Liverpool team will be long remembered for their 'heavy metal' football and their trophies.

The Reds followed up their 2019 Champions League success by winning the Premier League a year later – their first title in 30 years.

But the classic line-up that fans associate with the Liverpool side from that region – which included the likes of Alisson, Virgin van Dijk and Mo Salah – actually only played together once.

That happened in the Champions League final, with the iconic front three of Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, joined by captain Jordan Henderson and fellow midfielders Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho.

A back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, van Dijk and Andy Robertson seemed always present in those years, but those ten players never stood together for Alisson again after beating Tottenham in the 2019 Champions League final.

Instead, Klopp often called on the likes of Joe Gomez, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as deputized, partnering Xherdan Shaqiri in attack.

Fans were shocked to hear about the statistic, with one commenting: “Definitely not true?”

Another added: “I still fry my brain every time.”

A third wrote: “My mind can't handle this.”

And another commented: “If that's legit, this is the most mind-boggling piece of information I've read on Twitter in a long time.”

Former captain Henderson was also stunned when informed of the statistics and revealed he was going to share the information with Klopp.

He said: “What, in that final? You're kidding, wow. What a statistic that is!

'So they never played together before or after? That's crazy, that. Did you say that to the gaffer?

“I'm going to tell him if you never told him. I'm going to tell him when I see him!”
