Kate Middleton owns the same Emilia Wickstead number in four colors

The Princess of Wales, once voted best-dressed royal, prefers sleek silhouettes in flattering shades and certainly knows what suits her.

And while Kate famously bought the same outfit in two colors – her Coronation dress, for example, was a copy of an Alexander McQueen style she’d already worn – there’s one look that works so well that the royal family made it in four colors possess.

The garment in question, named after the Princess of Wales, is British and New Zealand designer Emilia Wickstead’s ‘Kate’ dress, which the royal family wears in shades of lavender, cobalt blue, olive green and teal.

The custom-made A-line dresses have long sleeves and a belt at the waist and differ only slightly in length.

While the teal version Kate was seen in yesterday when she welcomed the Queen of Sweden to Windsor Castle is a midi, the other three fall to the knee.

Three of the four – the lavender, the blue and the teal – have a beateau neckline, while the olive green dress has a square neckline.

Wickstead’s ‘Kate’ dress was previously available in pink, red and navy for £1,350, but is no longer on sale.

Kate, 41, was first spotted in the lavender version in October 2018 when she attended the Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit in London.

Less than a year later, Kate debuted an olive green version of the designer dress to open the Anna Freud Center in London.

In November 2019, she wore the cobalt blue dress to attend the launch of the National Emergencies Trust.

For the occasion, Kate added some sparkle in the form of Princess Diana’s dazzling diamond and sapphire earrings, which complemented the dress perfectly.

Yesterday’s meet-and-greet with the Queen of Sweden and her husband took place just before Kate and King Charles were identified by media organizations around the world, including the Guardian and the Times, when the two royals expressed their ‘concerns ‘ allegedly expressed about the color of Prince Archie’s skin, following the inclusion of their names in the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame.

British designers Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham are also among Kate’s favorites, and the Princess of Wales can also be seen in several versions of their designs.

Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that the Alexander McQueen dress that Kate wore to the coronation is almost identical to the one the royal family already owns.

The British fashion house has long been one of the Princess of Wales’s top designers, with the royal family even selecting creative director Sarah Burton to design her wedding dress in 2011.

In December 2019, the then Duchess of Cambridge wore a black version of her coronation dress to attend a reception for members of the diplomatic corps at Buckingham Palace.

For this occasion, Kate wore her stunning dress with the Lover’s Knot tiara, her Royal Victorian Order badge and matching blue sash.

Less than 24 hours before King Charles’ coronation, Kate Middleton joined the monarch and Prince William to surprise royal fans who lined The Mall outside Buckingham Palace.

To meet the public, the royal opted for a figure-hugging midi dress custom made for her by British designer Jenny Packham and featuring a black velvet belt.

The mother-of-three had also worn the exact same dress, but in black, to greet grieving royal fans outside Windsor Castle with Prince William and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in September 2022.

For the somber day, the princess kept her accessories minimal and simply wore black tights and suede heels.
