The family of a mother of three who suffered severe burns after allegedly setting her on fire at the hands of her estranged husband has broken their silence.
Kirsten Moiler, 33, was taken to hospital with burns to 38 percent of her body after she was reportedly set on fire in a car by her estranged husband Peter Moiler, 42, near her home in Mount Helena on June 2 in Perth.
A week later, she remains in an induced coma and it will be months before she begins to recover from her life-changing injuries.
Ms Moiler’s mother, Fiona Halton, has posted a statement online to address the horrific incident which will “impact [her daughter] forever’.‘
“I would like to thank everyone who stood by my daughter in the moments following the attack,” Ms Halton wrote.
“To the residents of Mt Helena, the medical response team and the staff at Fiona Stanley Hospital, I will be eternally grateful for your actions that saved my daughter.”

Ms Halton added that her daughter has a very long road to recovery ahead of her which will take ‘months’.
“She will have to undergo extensive medical treatments and procedures,” she added.
“Kirsten’s family and I are very grateful for all the love and support at this time.
Mrs. Halton has one online fundraiser to help with her daughter’s growing expenses extensive medical treatment and recovery.
“Her life will be forever affected by this attack,” she wrote.
“Kirsten is a mother of three beautiful children who will now be separated from their mother for months as she tries to recover.”
“The goal of the community is to raise money to contribute to any medical and personal expenses that will arise as Kirsten begins this long, difficult road to recovery.”

Her three young children are cared for by relatives.
It is clear that Ms. Moiler recently divorced her husband of 10 years.
Police were called to the corner of Honey Street and Mill End at about 6:25 pm on 2 June to report that a blue Holden Commodore was on fire and two people suffered burns.
Witnesses heard multiple explosions, then a woman screaming for help, before seeing Ms. Moiler run 100 yards from the crime scene to a nearby creek while tearing off her burning clothes.
One of the local residents who came to the rescue of Ms Moiler told Daily Mail Australia she was in agony and “terribly scared”.
“She was in incredible pain. I couldn’t talk to her,’ she said.
‘It was horrible. She was in very bad shape.’

The RAC rescue helicopter airlifted Ms Moiler to Fiona Stanley Hospital with third-degree burns on 38 percent of her body – including her face, arms, upper body and lap.
Her estranged husband was taken to hospital by St. John Ambulance with superficial burns.
He was charged with grievous bodily harm and stood before Perth Magistrates Court on 4 June. He has not applied for bail and will appear in court again at a later date.
