Many users supported the man’s decisions and congratulated him for playing “the reverse Uno card” on a date who was “there to get a free dinner.”

The unhappy dater started the post by describing himself as coming from the “traditional school of dating protocol,” explaining how he likes to make the person he meets feel safe, regardless of chemistry.

He added, “It’s like we both made the effort to get dressed, look nice, come out, give each other a chance…

“If it doesn’t quite work out, you want to respect that someone accepted your invitation and tried.”

However, things quickly went wrong after a personal meeting with a woman he had bonded with through a dating app.

The man was quick to brand the woman a “bland moral monstrosity” with the “attention span of a mosquito” after she spent five minutes furiously texting while they waited for their food.

When they finally started talking, she was quick to answer her ‘buzzing’ phone again.

The man tried to give his date a few hints about her antisocial behavior by joking and even saying he would throw the phone out the window if it continued.

However, his incessant hints fall on deaf ears as her eyes remain glued to her phone screen.

An appetizer and two drinks later, the guy realizes he’s miserable and there’s no way to turn this date around.

He goes to the bathroom and promises himself that if her eyes are still on her phone screen, he’ll be out the door soon.

When he comes out and sees her eye on the screen, he confirms that promise and quickly leaves.

He said: ‘I look the other way and there’s a service door open behind the kitchen. I turn right instead of left and leave the sweet, sweet air of freedom.”

It wasn’t until 30 minutes after he left the date that he even realized his absence and texted him, “Did you leave?”

While some called him out for being “dining and boisterous,” and some even accused him of stealing from the restaurant to taunt the woman, the overwhelming majority supported the man who stiffed his date with an $80 bill.

One said: ‘Good for you brother. I like sweet revenge.’

Another joked: ‘Small revenge – best served via unsent text…’

While one said: ‘The fact it took her half an hour to check if you were leaving shows how little she cared about your presence.’

One user joked: ‘I think it’s safe to say she wasn’t the one.’ One person added: ‘Too bad people can’t leave date reviews on those dating apps.’

Others even gave the man advice, suggesting he should have replied to her text with: “I left because you didn’t show up.”
