After pleading guilty last September to 60 charges, including bestiality, animal cruelty and even possession of child abuse material, Britton's team's sentencing was postponed.

They asked for more time to investigate psychiatric reports received last week that could even be used to try to reduce the sick abuser's sentence.

The twisted zoologist will not appear in court again until May – and angry protesters gathered outside the courtroom today to rage against the decision.

A local woman even held up a sign that read: “Death penalty for Adam Britton.”

She said MailOnline: “He can't get away with these heinous crimes. Now his command calls for psychological tests to check his suitability for rehabilitation – how can that work?

'How can we allow this monster back into a community of defenseless, voiceless, innocent animals?

“Really, the death penalty is the only way.”

Chief Justice Grant, the Australian High Court judge hearing Britton's case, issued a rare move this week to excuse security staff and officers from the courtroom.

He said the disgusting details in a summary of Britton's crimes were “confronting and disturbing” and that those forced to listen to it could have “negative psychological reactions”.

Grant also said he doubts new psychological findings will reduce Britton's sentence.

“For example, a serial killer cannot say, 'My moral culpability is reduced because I suffer from psychopathy.'

“I just don't understand where the evidence is going here.”

Another animal rights activist who turned out en masse in court today said: “He needs to be punished so that people don't think that animals are something to be exploited and abused.

“We realize [the death penalty] not going to happen… but locking him up forever would be my personal choice.”

The British senior researcher at Charles Darwin University in Australia – to plead guilty to last September's grim crimes – with a possible total of up to 249 years behind bars.

He has been charged with eight counts of bestiality – which carries a maximum sentence of three years, four counts of possessing and transmitting child abuse material – a maximum of 10 years, and 37 charges of aggravated animal cruelty – a maximum of five years.

Britton's horrific online posts

ADAM Britton posted sick messages online about his animal abuse.

In one, he wrote about how he adopted new dogs: “Most people want to know that you are a good person and that the dog is going to a good home – it will have room to play, you will take it for walks, should can live in a house, etc.”

The sick abuser continued, “Saying you want a new family member after your old dog died of cancer last year almost never backfires.”

In another he wrote: “I was talking to someone else about why I like hurting dogs… I wasn't sure at first, but now I live for it.

'I can't help but hurt dogs.

“As a child I was sadistic towards animals, but I had suppressed it. In recent years I let it go again and now I can't stop. I don't want to. :).”

Britton, who stood shoulder to shoulder with Sir David Attenborough and Prince Harry, recorded gruesome videos of the sick animal abuse.

Between 2020 and 2022, more than 40 animals were tortured, raped or killed at his home and a nearby property, including his own white Swiss shepherds, Ursa and Bolt.

Britton used a shipping container on his remote property to torture the animals.

He posted the sick images on Telegram to connect with like-minded abusers.

In a chilling post on the site, 'the world's worst animal abuser' spoke about his urges towards a stranger:

“I had suppressed it. Over the past few years I've brought it out again, and now I can't stop. I don't want it.”

It was britton's sick online post that got him taken to court, when a online sleuth noticed a distinctive collar on the dog in one of his videos – and contacted the police.

A month after the video was posted, police raided his Darwin home and arrested him.

The disgraced zoologist would use websites like Gumtree Australia to 'adopt' dogs for his crimes.

He is married to Erin, a biologist and forest ranger led a double life while committing the abuse.

There is no indication that she knew anything about her husband's crimes, and it appears that she posted his last name online.
