Chris Appleton and Lukas Gage may have looked in love on their wedding day, but six months later, relations between the pair have soured, with accusations of infidelity and ‘controlling’ behavior believed to be behind their shock split.

Chris, 40, filed for divorce on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” less than a year after he tied the knot with the Euphoria actor — and just a matter of days after the ceremony aired on reality series The Kardashians .

But sources close to 28-year-old Lukas claim he was the one who ended the relationship, with his partner’s alleged ‘controlling’ tendencies fueling his decision.

“Lukas ended it because Chris was controlling and possessive, and he really thought he was the most important person on the planet,” an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com.

The source said the couple were “playing” together, but suggested their open relationship could have caused a rift between them.

They also claimed that Chris “filed a report first to save face” and “conveniently waited until after the Kardashians’ wedding episode aired before adding, “Everyone thinks it’s so dark.”

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Chris and Lukas for comment.

The former couple’s divorce date is listed as Nov. 10, according to divorce documents, with documents showing they also had a prenuptial agreement.

The source said, “They had a prenup and the divorce is easy as the marriage is only six months old. Right now they’re not getting along at all.’

The estranged couple exchanged vows in Las Vegas in April, with Kim Kardashian, whose hair was cut by Chris, officiating the surprise nuptials. Shania Twain serenaded the couple.

The ceremony was documented last week on the Hulu series The Kardashians, leaving fans in shock.

The couple married in front of just six guests at Little White Chapel after applying for a marriage license in Clark County.

Kim organized a performance for Shania, as the music superstar sang, “Chris, Lukas, looks like you made it, come here, let’s do this.”

Both Chris and Lukas declared “We love you!” when Shania broke into her 1997 classic, You’re Still The One.

The estranged couple went public with their romance in February, sharing vacation photos from the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort in Mexico.

‘I’m very happy. Very much in love. And I feel very grateful that I can share my time with someone very special,” Chris said on March 17 on the Drew Barrymore Show.

‘Love is something very special and I think it’s very special to meet someone you really connect with.’

The couple was believed to have been plagued by cheating allegations, with rumors swirling on social media

The end of the couple’s union is not expected to be complicated due to the fact that a prenuptial agreement already existed

In addition to working for Kim, Chris’ client list also includes two-time Grammy nominee Jennifer Lopez, three-time Grammy winner Dua Lipa and Daytime Emmy nominated host Drew Barrymore.

Lukas is famous for his roles as resort worker Dillon in season one of The White Lotus, Adam Pratt in the Netflix thriller You and Tyler Clarkson in Euphoria.

He also has a recurring role as Lars Olmstead in the fifth season of the black comedy Fargo, premiering later this year on FX.

Chris looked glum as he stepped into West Hollywood without his wedding ring on Tuesday.

A source previously told TMZ that the split “wasn’t an easy decision for Chris, but he did everything he could to make the marriage work and had to make the best decision for himself going forward.”
