One person was killed and at least one other person was injured Monday when they were stabbed by a man at the Macy’s store in Center City Philadelphia, authorities said.

A suspect fled the store on a subway after 11 a.m. and was found a short time later at the Somerset Station, northeast of the store, where he was arrested, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority said in a statement.

The murdered victim was identified as a 30-year-old store employee. He was stabbed once in the neck and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Philadelphia police said in a statement. Another victim, a 23-year-old store employee who was stabbed in the face and left arm, was in stable condition, police said.

The transport authority said a third person was also injured in the attack. That person’s condition was not immediately clear.

It was also not immediately clear what led to the stabbing. The Macy’s store is located on Market Street, across from Philadelphia City Hall.
