Man reportedly shot dead in house on same street where detectives believe William Tyrrell’s body was buried – three people face charges

One woman and two men have been charged over the alleged murder of a 43-year-old man whose body was found in a home in Kendall on the NSW north coast.

The man was found shot to death in the home on Batar Creek Road last Wednesday around 6:40 p.m. and could not be revived at the scene.

NSW Police have charged Luke Willcockson, 37, with murder, and Ashley Shields, 27, with concealed serious offense after the pair were arrested in North Haven at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

A third person, Michael Nicholas Hatzigeorgiou, 39, who had been living at the Kendall home, was arrested after he was stopped on the Pacific Highway near Nabiac at 4.10pm on Saturday.

He was charged with accessory to murder, concealment of a serious criminal offense and driving a motor vehicle during the disqualification period. He appeared in Port Macquarie Local Court on Monday.

He was refused bail and will appear again today in the same court where Mr Willcockson and Ms Shields will also appear.

Members of the public performed CPR on the man who was reportedly shot last week and who, neighbors told Daily Mail Australia, had been living there with a woman for several years.

Neighbors reported hearing laughter coming from the house Wednesday evening before the man’s death, followed by the screeching of car tires.

Kendall – a small village of 1,141 people not far from Port Macquarie – was the town where William Tyrrell, Australia’s most famous missing child, went missing in September 2014.

Last week’s crime scene took place at a home just a two-minute drive from the stretch of Batar Creek Road that was the subject of an intensive police search for William’s remains two years ago.

Police still believe the missing toddler’s remains are buried on the other side of Batar Creek Road, a short drive from where he was last seen on Benaroon Drive, Kendall.

In late 2021, detectives and SES staff conducted an extensive four-week search along Batar Creek Road to locate missing William.

Detectives from Strike Force Rosann, which is investigating William’s disappearance, told William Tyrrell’s foster mother: ‘We are not guessing. We don’t bluff. We know how, we know why, we know where he is.”

The woman, who cannot be identified, has strongly denied having any knowledge of the toddler’s whereabouts or any connection to William’s disappearance.

There is no evidence of a link between his disappearance and the latest incident on Batar Creek Road.

The house where the man died is closer to the city than the location on the same street where police believe William is buried.
