Ten Hag confirms 'very serious' injury for Martinez

Lisandro Martinez had to leave the field during the match between Manchester United and West Ham with a “very serious” injury, manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed.

When asked about him after the match, Ten Hag said that the defender “doesn't look good” and that it is “very bad for him, very bad for the team”.

He added: “It seems bad, we have to wait and make the correct diagnosis.

“Right now we are very sad, hopefully it won't be too bad, but we can only pray.

“It looks like he will have to sit out a number of games injured again.”

FT: Man Utd 3-0 West Ham

A convincing victory for the Red Devils, but as the statistics show, it could have turned out very differently.

The visitors were very wasteful in the final third this afternoon.

David Moyes will feel they could and should have gotten something out of this game.

Man Utd 2-0 West Ham

Garnacho followed his colleague Hojlund to increase Man Utd's lead.

David Moyes won't be happy with what he sees from his side at Old Trafford this afternoon.

As the stats show, they've done more than enough to play in this game.

The fact they are two goals behind will infuriate the West Ham manager.

Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

So far it has been a fairly even match.

West Ham have had more shots but failed to work on Andre Onana sufficiently.

Bowen has seen little of the ball, which appears to be the key to West Ham's success this season.

Hojlund four goals in four games

Opening the scoring at Old Trafford Rasmus Hojlund has continued his scoring streak.

Hojlund gets the ball outside Casemiro's penalty area, with few options.

He fakes a shot and cuts inside on his right foot.

The Danish striker drills the ball into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper without a chance.

The forward has scored in every match since hitting the back of the net for the first time in the Premier League against Aston Villa in December.

Maguire above Varane

Harry Maguire started for Manchester United against West Ham because he was in good form while Raphael Varane needed rest, according to Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag told MUTV before kick-off: “First of all, Harry did well in October, November and December.

“He suffered an injury and is back. Rapha is also doing very well, but this is the third match in a short period of time within a week, so it is a good time to give him a rest.”

“We didn't want to change too much, just one change and I don't think it changes much. It is now up to Harry to contribute and we are confident he will do so.

“I don't want to celebrate too quickly that I have a fit selection, because players are still coming back.

“From Wolves to this game they haven't had much time to recover so hopefully we can pull through.”
