Margot Robbie at Vogue Australia’s Barbie party in Sydney

The A-list descended on the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney on Friday night for a party to honour the premiere of the hotly anticipated Barbie movie. 

Leading the charge at the event, which was hosted by Vogue Australia, was the woman of the hour, Margot Robbie. 

The Australian actress, who stars as the iconic doll in the new feature, looked absolutely stunning in a metallic pink mesh mini dress. 

The flirty frock included a plunging neckline that showed off a little bust and its short length put the beauty’s trim pins on display. 

Margot skipped the accessories but opted for a metallic manicure that matched her dress, as well as wearing a pair of very Barbie-inspired clear heels. 

She chose a peachy makeup look with a flawless finish and a dark pink lipstick in a matte finish, while wearing her blonde locks down around her face. 

Margot arrived in Sydney on Wednesday with her husband Tom Ackerley to promote her starring role in Barbie. 

He was on hand to show his support on Friday night, posing alongside his wife and her co-stars on the pink carpet. 

Margot hammed it up alongside the film’s director Greta Gerwig as the pair posed for photos. 

Greta looked resplendent in a shimmering gold maxi dress in an old Hollywood silhouette. 

She added a pair of black heels with dramatic bows on the front and chose a warm, pink makeup palette while wearing her bob in a retro do.  

The film is ‘a fish-out-of-water story about a doll who is ousted from toy society for not being perfect enough.’

Another synopsis on IMDB of the movie reads: ‘A doll living in ‘Barbieland’ is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world. A Live-action feature film based on the popular line of Barbie toys.’

Oscar winner Ryan Gosling is starring opposite Margot as he takes on the role of Barbie’s boyfriend Ken.

Will Ferrell is said to be playing the CEO of the toy company that may or may not be Mattel.

Little Women and Ladybird filmmaker Greta is directing the project, and wrote the script for the film with her longtime partner Noah Baumbach.

Other members of the cast include America Ferrera, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon and Michael Cera. 

Margot’s Barbie co-star America Ferrera was elegant in all black, choosing a stunning blazer dress with satin lapels. 

The American actress added a pair of towering patent leather Mary Janes and pinned a large tulle rose to her blazer. 

She kept warm in a pair of dark pantyhose and added a pop of pink with a pale satin clutch. 

America completed her look with a glamorous makeup palette with a dark blush and nude cream lipstick, while wearing her dark locks pinned off her face.

Pretty in pink was Barbie star Issa Rae who looked gorgeous in a maxi dress with a sheer overlay and turtleneck design. 

She added a smattering of rings as well as a pair of large hoop earrings while wearing her hair pulled back in a half-up bun. 

The American actress opted for a pink makeup palette with a metallic lipstick and bold eyeshadow. 

Issa finished her ensemble with a pair of strappy gold heels and a pearlescent manicure.  

Also turning heads at the event was Australian model Jesinta Franklin who also chose a metallic mini dress in a mottled leather. 

The short cut of the frock showed off her trim pins and she added a pair of towering white heels to the look. 

For makeup, Jesinta chose a clean look with a nude lipstick and wore her reddish locks down and straightened. 

She completed her look with a pale pink manicure and carried a white designer purse on her arm.  

Going for bold in red, Georgia Fowler made a leggy appearance in a super short, fitted red mini dress with daring splits along the sides. 

It featured ribbon detailing along the long sleeves and through the splits, and sat close to her statuesque figure. 

The model added a pair of stacked, clear Perspex heels with nude straps as well as a series of gold rings and statement earrings. 

She wore her dark locks down in waves and chose a glamorous makeup look with a dark pink nude lipstick and rust-toned eye shadow. 

Lucia Hawley was on theme in a baby pink latex dress in an A-line cut with a sleeveless design. 

The journalist, who is Nicole Kidman’s niece, looked gorgeous in the frock, which she paired with pointed white heels. 

She opted for a rosy makeup look with a pink-nude lipstick and lots of blush, while wearing her brunette locks down in gentle waves. 

Lucia finished her look with a smattering of gold accessories including a watch and dainty diamond necklace.  

Celeste Barber bucked the pink trend, choosing a show-stopping black gown with large, glittering sequins and a full skirt in a waterfall cut. 

The comedian added a pair of polka dot pantyhose and edgy leather boots as well as pearl drop statement earrings. 

She posed alongside her husband, Api Robin, who looked chic in a green dress shirt with metallic threating, short trousers and leather loafers. 

Celeste turned heads, opting for a bright makeup look with mauve lipstick and wearing her brunette bob straightened. 

Rebecca Vallance stunned in a hot pink velvet maxi dress, with the designer added a chunky gold chain choker and glamorous makeup look. 

Model Charlee Fraser put together her best Barbie look in a Versace two piece paired with stacked plastic slides. 

Home and Away star Brenton Thwaites was dapper in a slim fit navy blue suit with a white dress shirt and pocket square.
