FAMILIES struggling to make ends meet can now feed their children for just 45 cents thanks to Ikea's family savings card.

The cheap dinners were highlighted during Martin Lewis' money show – and the savings could be a lifeline for parents as bills continue to rise.

The potentially life-saving deals were highlighted by the money-saving expert on his ITV show last night.

In part of the show, he reminded Brits that they can join Ikea's 'IKEA family club' completely free and get 50% off food deals every Friday.

Meals on offer for family members include Swedish meatballs for £2.45, tomato pasta for just under £1.35 – and children can get the same dish for just 45p.

Speaking on the show, Martin Lewis said: “50% off at Ikea restaurants for family members every Friday until August 30.”

For current household members of the furniture store, it said the discount will be automatically added when paying for food.

And for those who aren't members yet, all you have to do is go to the store's site and sign up.

In addition to the 50% discount on Friday deals, children can eat for 95 cents in any store in the country from 11am.

Meals on offer include pasta dishes including a drink for 95p, or a meal deal for just £1.50.

What's even better is that the offers will remain in place until August and while the kids fill up on their food, parents can enjoy free hot drinks during the week by showing their family card.

WHAT IS THE IKEA FAMILY CARD?

  • IKEA Family was first launched in 1952 by their founder, Ingvar Kamprad, who opened a customer club called “Silverklubben”.
  • The more modern relaunch took place in 1984 when their Swedish Linköping branch re-opened the popular club to their loyal customers.
  • The Ikea family card is advertised as a club that anyone can join, their site states: “Some clubs for a select group, but IKEA Family is for everyone.”
  • You can join the club for free by going to their website and signing up. Once signed up, customers can expect member discounts, free hot drinks, invitations to specialist workshops and events and free cover on items until they are assembled at home.

The reminder will come as welcome relief to mums and dads – and everyone else – feeling the pinch after a busy end to 2023 and rising energy bills in 2024, forcing Britons to lower their quality of life.
