Another honor for Matildas superstar Sam Kerr as she has been named the best female footballer in the world – ranking higher than Cristiano Ronaldo

The accolades keep coming for Sam Kerr, with the Matildas skipper named the best female footballer in the world.

The 29-year-old Kerr also achieved a higher ranking than Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, according to EA Sports’ upcoming FIFA 23 video game.

Chelsea striker Kerr was the equivalent top-rated women’s player, with an impressive overall rating of 91, while the Portuguese has a rating of 90.

Spanish midfield maestro Alexia Putellas achieved the same position.

When she was taken down, Kerr’s ball skills in the EA Sports game scored 92 out of 100, her heading skill was 91, terminal skill 93 and agility 90.

Compared to the men’s ranking, Kerr is on a par with world stars such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Kevin De Bruyne.

It’s just another feather in the hat for Kerr who has had a fantastic year so far.

The Perth-born striker won her fourth WSL title with Chelsea, the FA Cup where she scored the winner in the final and was also named Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year for a second time.

She’s not the only Aussie in the women’s top 100, with Ellie Carpenter number one. 69, Steph Catley at 71 and Caitlin Foord at 78.

Goalkeeper Mat Ryan is the highest ranked Socceroos star by FIFA, with an overall rating of 77.

Veteran midfielder Aaron Mooy was next best with a 76 rating.

Matildas van Kerr will take on Ireland (July 20), Nigeria (July 27) and Canada (July 31) in Group B in the Women’s World Cup on home soil.

They will have an $11 chance to win the tournament, with the final in Sydney on August 20.
