Diya Kumari, Rajasthan’s new Deputy Prime Ministeris a royal politician representing the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Kumari is a politician and a princess from Jaipur. Coming from her royal bloodline, she is a multifaceted personality who goes by the titles of princess, politician, philanthropist and socialite.

She was born in 1971 and is the granddaughter of Maharaja Man Singh II, the last ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Jaipur. She is the only daughter of Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh and HH Maharani Padmini Devi of Jaipur.

Diya Kumari has three children: HH Sawai Padmanabh Singh, Princess Gauravi Kumari and HH Lakshraj Prakash, Maharaja of Sirmour.

Growing up in the backdrop of royal routines, she watched her father indulge in philanthropy and later took charge to continue his work. She currently lives at the famous tourist spot in Jaipur – the City Palace – and helps run the Man Singh Museum.

While Diya Kumari’s heritage connects her to a rich royal heritage, she is also a contemporary woman with a modern outlook. She was educated in India and the United Kingdom, where she studied history and social work.

DIYA KUMARI’S TRY WITH POLITICS

2013 was the year when Diya Kumari ventured into politics by joining the BJP. Her political career was marked by her strong advocacy for women’s rights, education and rural development. Later she was elected a member of the Lok Sabha.

Besides politics, Diya Kumari is actively involved in various philanthropic initiatives. She founded the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation, which works to empower women and children through education, healthcare and skill development programs. She is also chairperson of the Jaipur Heritage Society, which works to preserve the city’s rich cultural and architectural heritage.

Kumari is also a connoisseur of art and culture and actively promotes traditional arts, crafts, music and dance.

DIYA KUMARI AND HER CLAIM TO OWN TAJ MAHAL

Diya Kumari is known for her outspoken character and bold statements. Recently, she has claimed that the land on which the Taj Mahal is built belongs to her family and thus the property belongs to her. She even claimed that they have the proper documentation and are prepared to appear in court if necessary.

However, she remains a prominent figure in public debate, known for her strong opinions and active involvement in social and political affairs.

She currently shares the title of Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan with Prem Chand Bairwa.
