Morayfield shooting: Woman, 29, shot dead in Queensland as teenager is questioned by police and detectives search bins at nearby childcare center

A woman was shot dead in a unit in Morayfield in Brisbane's north early on Sunday morning while a teenage boy was being questioned by detectives.

Police raided The Bungalows apartment building on Grant Road just after noon on Saturday when neighbors reported the sound of gunshots.

Emergency services found a 29-year-old woman with gunshot wounds and attempted to save her, but she died at the scene.

Neighbors reported that police had searched the bins at the nearby Morayfield West nursery across the road during their investigation at the scene.

Police told Daily Mail Australia an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

“Emergency services were called to the Grant Road property just after midnight following reports that a woman had been shot,” Queensland Police said.

'Emergency services tried to help the woman, but she died at the scene.

'Investigations are ongoing. No further information is available at this time.”

Police have declared the property and a related vehicle a crime scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death continue.

An 18-year-old Morayfield man is currently assisting police with investigations.
