Mystery over why leading barrister Guy Reynolds was seen bleeding through the front garden of his run-down mansion

A top lawyer was seen bleeding from the head as he crawled out of the front of his derelict mansion after being seriously attacked by an intruder on the property.

Lawyer Guy Reynolds was seen in the distressed state of his run-down estate in Sydney's affluent eastern suburb of Edgecliff on January 6 after he was attacked by Jesse Ford.

Eyewitnesses reported that Mr Reynolds, who is in his 70s, had 'blood streaming down his head and neck' as he sat on his hands and knees in the garden of a property which has angered neighbors and prompted a council notice because of its abandoned state.

Ford was seen being led away in handcuffs as police sent five cars to the scene, while an ambulance crew attended to Mr Reynolds.

After being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and trespassing, Ford was sentenced by Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge at Waverley Court on January 11.

Ford was fined $3,000 and did not attend the hearing, according to a report by the Daily telegram.

Mr Reynolds was reportedly well enough to return to work the following week.

The incident is the latest part of the ongoing saga surrounding Mr Reynolds' apparently abandoned property, which neighbors previously warned could be a magnet for squatters.

Mr. Reynold also owns another property down the street, a Spanish Mission-style hacienda he inherited from his parents.

However, he doesn't live in either and has a multi-million dollar sub-penthouse apartment in the Sydney CBD on Macquarie Street.

They also claim rat and cockroach infestations stem from the neglected sites, which also have a stinking pool that has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, which Mr Reynolds denies.

Mr Reynolds is a barrister at the powerful Sixth Floor Selborne Wentworth Chambers in Sydney.

He has numerous Supreme Court cases to his name and has represented clients including Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, Labor NSW Minister Eddie Obeid, Lindt cafe hostage taker Man Haron Monis and Melbourne underworld figure Mick Gatto.

The council confirmed last June that it had asked Reynolds to complete a pest inspection report, drain his swimming pool and better manage his security alarm.
