Safety Check can help you save your life

“This person knows what TV shows they are watching on the Netflix app, can see what they are searching for on Google, etc…” they say said.

“I've never come across this before, and I would appreciate any advice on how to help my friend here if possible?” they asked.

Users quickly came up with recommendations, including enabling Safety Checkup.

Apple has launched Safety Check in recent years and it could potentially save your life if someone is secretly stalking you.

The setting is currently available on all iPhone models running iOS 16 or later.

WHAT IS SAFETY CHECK?

The feature is designed to help people quickly stop sharing their information.

It can be used to view and update sharing with individual people and apps.

Some other features of the tool include restricting Messages and FaceTime to your iPhone and resetting system privacy permissions for apps.

You can also change your passcode, change your Apple ID password, and more.

Perhaps most notable, however, is an emergency option that lets you reset any permissions you've given to anyone.

HOW TO USE

To use Safety Checkup, make sure your device is running iOS 16 or later.

You also need a personal Apple ID with two-factor authentication enabled.

Once that's done, navigate to Settings, tap Privacy & Security, and then click Safety Checkup to access the feature.

You can view a list of apps and prevent them from sharing content with other people.

That includes Health, Home, Shared Calendars, Shared Location, Shared Notes, and Shared Photos.

You can also prevent apps from collecting certain types of data, including preventing access to the microphone, camera, and contacts.
