NETFLIX has rejected Apple's biggest new gadget, as the streaming boss says “we'll see where it goes”.

The gigantic streamer is everywhere: from your phone, computer to your game console.

But one place Netflix doesn't plan to tread is Apple's upcoming Vision Pro VR headset.

According to CEO Greg Peters, the company is not sure whether users will actually use it.

The controversial technology was launched last year as a new augmented reality that is the first of its kind.

Apple showed a movie in which headset users look at a giant virtual screen in their living room – with the screen completely displayed by the headset.

There's also a cinema environment and the ability to make the screen appear larger than the room you're in.

Chief executive Tim Cook said Vision Pro “will change the way we communicate, collaborate, work and enjoy entertainment.”

However, Netflix's chief executive has labeled the device as “subscale” and said he did not know if it is “relevant to most of our members.”

Mr Peters said: “We have to be careful and make sure we don't invest in places that aren't really delivering returns, and I would say we'll see where it goes with Vision Pro.

“We're certainly always in discussions with Apple to figure that out, but right now the device is so underpowered that it's not really particularly relevant to most of our members.”

Peters hinted that there could still be a change in his position if Apple offered the right incentives.

He said: “We have worked together for a long time and always actively discussed how we could help each other.

“Sometimes we find a big overlap.”

Apple Vision Pro reportedly racked up around 180,000 pre-orders during its first weekend of being available to users.

But the numbers lagged behind the millions of smartphones, consoles and TVs on the market.

The Vision Pro costs $3,499 (£2,753) and won't be available until early 2024.

It comes as Netflix finally decided to scrap its cheapest ad-free plan, six months after it stopped offering it to new subscribers.

The so-called Basic plan costs £7.99/$11.99 per month and has only been available to existing customers since July last year.

The streaming giant abruptly removed the cheapest ad-free plan from its subscription options last year, before raising prices in October.
