Oatlands crash: Bob Sakr, Veronique Sakr’s father, dies of cancer
Heartbreak for the father of a little girl, 11, who was killed along with her cousins in the Oatlands crash tragedy, as he reveals he is dying of cancer – and doctors tell him he has only two weeks to live
The father of one of the four children killed in the Oatlands disaster has revealed he is dying of cancer.
Bob Sakr, Veronique Sakr’s father, shared on social media that he has been battling cancer for almost a year and that he has about two weeks to live.
Veronique, 11, was killed on February 1, 2020, when Samuel William Davidson’s car went up a curb and hit her and cousins Sienna Abdallah, Angelina Abdallah and Antony Abdallah as they were walking to buy ice creams.

Mr Sakr said his cancer had ‘went into attack mode’ and doctors had told him his life was coming to an end.
“I haven’t booked my ticket and I’m in no rush, but I’m preparing for what’s to come,” he said.
“I’m not one to say hello, but rather say, ‘See you next time I look at you.'”
Davidson was drunk and on drugs when he hit the four children.
He was initially sentenced to 28 years in prison with a non-parole of 21 years, but was re-sentenced to 20 years in prison with a non-parole of 17 years in 2022 after his original sentence was deemed manifestly excessive.
Veronique’s mother, Bridget Sakr, said at the time that the sentence reduction was “unfair.”

“We’ve always said that forgiveness and justice are two different things,” she said.
“It was apparently a crushing sentence, but it was our children who were crushed.”
Davidson failed earlier this year in an attempt to have his sentence reduced again.
He was driving erratically and too fast when he hit the children in Oatlands, Sydney’s northwest.
Davidson had pleaded guilty to four counts of manslaughter and to charges related to injuries to three other children in the crash.
