Oprah Winfrey sends a giant flower arrangement to Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson following her 2024 Emmys wins

Oprah Winfrey sent Quinta Brunson and the cast and crew of the ABC series Abbott Elementary a huge floral bouquet on Wednesday, following the show's stellar showing at the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday.

'Thank you @Oprah for this little bouquet!' Brunson, 34, said in an Instagram post two days after winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Janine Teagues on the program.

The giant bouquet, a combination of dozens of pink and white roses, was placed on a table in a hallway on the set of the comedy series.

With Monday's win, Brunson became the first Black actress in more than four decades to claim the honor, which was last achieved in 1981 by the late Isabel Sanford for her work on The Jeffersons.

In her acceptance speech at the event at The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, Brunson told the audience, “I'm so excited to make Abbott Elementary and I'm so happy to be able to live my dream and do comedy, and I say It. every time and I love comedy so much I'm so happy to get this.

She added, “I didn't prepare anything because I just didn't think…oh God. I love my mother, my father. My sisters, my brothers. My whole family so bad. I love my husband. I'm so happy. I love my cast. Oh, I love Abbott Elementary. Thank you so much.'

The series, which focuses on a group of teachers at a Philadelphia public school, also won Outstanding Comedy Series at this year's Emmys.

Brunson received even more praise and well wishes in the comments section of the post, which includes responses from actresses Jenna Ortega, Bresha Webb and America Ferrera; as well as social media personalities including Jackie Aina and Parker Kit Hill.

'Yes OPRAH! Give our gurl her flowers!' Webb said, while Parker said, “This is the biggest Oprah bouquet I have ever seen. that's well-deserved love.'

Aina said, “This is insane omg,” while Ortega said, “Legend” with a few heart emojis.

In a post on Instagram Stories, Brunson said: 'Thank you to everyone who sent me royal wishes and congratulations. I'm just going to approach them all. Thank you, thank you, thank you.'

Brunson was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for guest hosting Saturday Night Live, but lost to Judith Light for her work on Poker Face.

In total, Abbott Elementary was nominated for eight awards during Monday's proceedings, while series regulars Tyler James Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Janelle James and guest star Taraji P. Henson also received honors.

After her victorious evening Monday, Brunson said Entertainment tonight that she 'began' to exhale in the midst of the hectic time.

“This show has been very emotional for me from start to finish,” Brunson said. “I feel like it's such an underrated genre, and it's something that raised me and guided me artistically, so you know. It makes me emotional.'

The third season of Abbott Elementary airs next month on ABC, starting February 7 at 9/8c.
