EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Panto shock for Chipping Norton after one of the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella is inappropriately touched

Lord (David) Cameron of Chipping Norton and his family are among those who regularly enjoy the pantomime at the Chipping Norton Theatre, near the Secretary of State’s retreat in the Cotswolds.

But this year the drama took place offstage at the Oxfordshire theatre, where past audiences have included Jeremy Clarkson and Amanda Holden.

Cinderella cast members are upset after one of the ugly sisters, played by an actress, was allegedly touched ‘inappropriately’ by a man in the audience during a New Year’s Eve performance.

“It appears to have been a ‘Me Too’ incident,” said one attendee. ‘Adnausea was groped by an audience member at the end of the show. The other ugly sister, Quosimoda, played by a man, did make a strange comment about unacceptable behavior. And shortly afterwards a man stood up and walked out of the theater. But we thought it was just part of the show.”

The audience member adds: ‘During the performance, two men in the front row were asked to participate in the show and declare their love for the two ugly sisters. Perhaps people have taken this too literally.’

A theater spokesperson confirmed the incident. ‘Towards the end of this performance there was a moment of inappropriate audience behavior involving physical contact between an audience member and a performer, which was then provoked by other members of the company.

‘We are in communication with the audience member(s) involved to make it clear that we will not accept such behavior in the future, and that both the artist in question and the wider company have been grateful for the messages of support they have received from other members of the public.

“We work hard to ensure the theater is a happy, safe and welcoming place for audiences and performers alike.”

Anne-Sofie supports outgoing Queen

She was described as the ‘real Cinderella’ after she left one of her gold stilettos at the Royal Palace of Copenhagen at the end of Prince Christian of Denmark’s 18th birthday party last October.

Now Anne-Sofie Tornso Olesen has backed his grandmother Queen Margrethe’s dramatic decision to abdicate the throne in favor of Christian’s father, Crown Prince Frederik.

“Margrethe made the right decision,” says Anne-Sofie, adding: “She’s great, but I don’t want her to feel stressed. I want her to relax and live her best life with her family and friends. She deserves the best.’

About Crown Prince Frederik, who will succeed to the throne on January 14, she says: ‘I believe he will become a great king. He seemed nice at Christian’s birthday party, and he gave a great speech too. His speech was very moving, it even made me cry a little.’

Kate exchanges high couture for bikini chic

Known for her power dressing in Emily In Paris, Kate Walsh feels right at home on the beach.

The American actress, 56, who plays Lily Collins’ stylish boss Madeline in the hit Netflix drama above, wore a red and white checked bikini as she took a dip in the sea Down Under with her Australian farmer fiancé Andrew Nixon .

Walsh, who has starred in US hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy since 2005, says she has no desire to look the same as she did at the start of her career.

“The idea that we have to stay the same or stay the way we were when we were in our twenties, until we’re in our thirties, when we’re in our forties, when we’re in our fifties — that’s just a misconception,” she adds.

Love Island narrator Iain Stirling is known for his soothing Scottish blackberry, while his wife, former dating show host Laura Whitmore, is from Dublin. Yet their two-year-old daughter, Stevie Re, grows up speaking the King’s English. Her accent is currently “a mixture” of Scottish and Irish, says Whitmore, who lives with Stevie Re and Stirling in Camden, north London. ‘It’s a bit everywhere. I like it now, but we’re probably going to raise her with a very posh English accent.’

Dame Arlene Phillips is baffled that people are still asking questions about her antics in the bedroom.

“Everyone has been asking about my sex life,” says the former Strictly Come Dancing judge, who has been in a relationship with Angus Ion, a set builder, since they met while making a Freddie Mercury pop video in 1985. “What are we should we do in our lives? Should I turn around and disappear now that I’ve turned 80 or should I just go outside?

‘Right now I’m doing it all. I even went by bus recently. It must have been twenty years since I was on the bus.’

Why Good Life got Briers’ goat

As Tom Good in the classic sitcom The Good Life, Richard ‘Dickie’ Briers advocated self-sufficiency, growing his own crops in his Surbiton garden with his wife Barbara (Felicity Kendal) and raising livestock.

Off-screen, the late actor never grew a vegetable in his life and was not an animal lover, according to his daughters Lucy and Katy. “A lot of our friends at school thought we lived in that house and had that garden,” says Lucy, an actress, in the upcoming Channel Five documentary The Good Life: 50 Years Of Laughter. “And I thought, ‘I wish it really was like that.’ Dad was a neat gardener, he loved a nice lawn. He loved a nice dahlia, as long as he behaved himself.’

Patricia, widow of Paul Eddington, who played Tom’s neighbor Jerry Leadbetter, adds: ‘Paul was always good with animals, Dickie was not. Dickie hated that goat [Geraldine] that was on the show.”
