Paul Hogan is back in Australia and back in public life after a difficult period with his health.

The 84-year-old looked a little tired as he stepped out for the launch of former politician John Brown’s autobiography, Brownie, at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on Monday.

He was flanked by esteemed guests, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The actor dressed comfortably in a white shirt and a loose black blazer, teamed with dark trousers.

Hogan was in a wheelchair after a rib injury last December and arrived in Sydney pushed by a nanny.

The Flipper star got up from the chair without assistance, but he struggled to walk while clinging to his side and appeared to be in pain due to his rib injury.

The actor has struggled with muscle wasting and dramatic weight loss after being diagnosed with retroperitoneal fibrosis.

Discussing his condition during an interview with A current issueHogan revealed that the benign growth has wrapped around the abdominal aorta and pressed on his kidney.

He admitted the devastating impact on his health is making him want to leave the $3.5 million Venice Beach home he shares with son Chance, 24, and return to the relative peace of his home country.

‘I have lost all my body fat, the muscles have shrunk and the strength has come back because it made me weak. I let Chance open jars for me,” he said.

The actor was prescribed corticosteroids to reduce growth but is now struggling to regain his strength after the health scare dramatically changed his physique.

‘They shrink your muscles and [they’re] It’s supposed to make you fat, but I got thinner and thinner and thinner,” Hogan revealed.

“I’m trying to gain some fat right now… because you’re too cold if you don’t have any body fat.”

Hogan has now been fitted with a pacemaker and says he is being ‘held together by a string’ as he tries to return to full health.
