  • EXCLUSIVE: Married headteacher had a four-hour sex session while chaos reigned
  • Adam Price was allowed to continue teaching after the panel ruled he was not a threat to students

This is the married principal who had sex with a colleague in his office for nearly four hours while chaos reigned at his school.

Four fights broke out and three teachers were assaulted, while Executive Head Adam Price and a fellow teacher, identified only as Person B, stripped naked to “engage in sexual activity.”

There was outrage this week when the Teaching Regulation Agency allowed Mr Price, 40, to continue his appeal despite the stain on his notebook.

Duncan Tilley, who presided over the hearing, barred him from teaching again, saying: ‘The panel noted Mr Price’s insight into his misconduct and its consequences. He expressed remorse that the panel seemed sincere.

“The devastating impact his behavior had had on him and his family led the panel to conclude that the risk of recurrence was low.

“The panel considered whether it would be proportionate to close this matter without recommending an injunction, considering whether publication of the panel’s findings would be sufficient.”

Mr Price was in charge of the Northern House School Academy Trust, a pupil referral unit in Wolverhampton, when the incident occurred on January 27, 2020.

The hearing was told that three staff members were absent on the day and that ‘Person B’ had canceled one member of staff’s external training to fill the gaps.

But she then joined Mr Price in his office for three hours and 50 minutes, during which time fellow staff members were assaulted and four fights broke out between students.

Their shocking behavior and secret affair came to light a month later, after anonymous letters were sent to the school calling on Mr. Price to resign in disgrace.

Duncan Tilley told the Coventry hearing: ‘Mr Price was referred to the TRA on 20 February 2020.

It was reported that the school had received two anonymous letters questioning the conduct of Mr Price and another member of staff, Person B, including the nature of their relationship.

‘One of those letters asked what they had done in Mr. Price’s office during the day when students and other staff were present.

“A review of CCTV footage dated January 27, 2020 was made which showed that Mr. Price and Person B had engaged in sexual activity in Mr. Price’s office that day.”

He added: ‘Mr Price admitted that he and Person B spent much of the working day together in his office on January 27, 2020; in total about 3 hours 50 minutes.

During this time, Mr. Price admitted that he and Person B engaged in sexual activity and there were periods when Mr. Price and Person B were unclothed.

“The panel learned that there had been three attacks on staff and four separate brawls between students on the day in question.

“The referral document also stated that three staff members working at the school were off that day and Person B had applied for additional coverage for that reason and canceled one employee’s scheduled outside training.”

Mr Price also admitted to violating Northern House School’s ‘Relationships at Work’ policy by not declaring a personal relationship with person B.

The panel rejected Mr Price’s request for anonymity but stopped short of banning teaching.

It did not recommend a teaching ban as Mr Price had a good history and had made valuable contributions to the profession by working with challenging pupils.

John Knowles, speaking on behalf of the Education Secretary, said: ‘In light of the panel’s findings against Mr Price, there was a public interest consideration in relation to the protection of pupils as, by acting as he did on the day, failed to put the safety and well-being of children above all considerations.

“However, based on all the evidence presented, the panel concluded that the risk to students from his behavior was not significant.”
