New Delhi: Puneri Paltan recorded their sixth straight win on Wednesday by beating UP Yoddhas 40-31 in front of their home crowd in the final home match for UP Yoddhas at the Noida Indoor Stadium. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh’s brilliant defensive ability saw him score seven points, while captain Aslam Inamdar grabbed 11 to keep his team at the top of the table.

In an exciting, high-scoring first half, it was the Paltans who got off to a quicker start, not only registering quick raid points but also ensuring that UP Yoddha’s record-breaking raider Pardeep Narwal played the first 10 minutes of the match registered no points.

It was a game of high energy and risk, initiated by Mohammadreza Chiyaneh and Aslam Inamdar, that paid off. The Paltan created the first ALL OUT in the first five minutes and took a 10-4 lead.

The setback woke the UP Yoddhas from their slumber and despite Narwal’s inability to log points, they crawled back into the game. As it was, it was exactly the lift Narwal needed as he scored his first two points of the match in quick succession in the final five minutes of the half, before showing remarkable strength to single-handedly to administer an ALL OUT. the Paltan and drag the score to 20-18.

The Paltan didn’t let that setback persuade them to change strategy, and they maintained their game plan and lead throughout the second half. However, in a back-and-forth period, the UP Yoddhas kept them on their toes and despite numbers dropping, they remained within two points.

A SUPER TACKLE with five minutes to go turned the match into a nail-biter, but almost immediately the Paltan finished the match. They pulled off a second ALL OUT with barely two minutes left to take a seven-point lead, before Akash Shinde put the icing on the cake and pulled off a SUPER RAID to seal the match 40-31.
