Dr. Daniel Barrett (@barrettplasticsurgery) describes himself as a natural plastic surgeon.

In a TikTok videohe offered helpful beauty tips that don't cost a cent.

He immediately said the best free beauty hack he could offer was “sleep well.”

The 44-year-old then shared an anti-aging tip to start using NAD, which stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide.

NAD+ is a coenzyme already present in your body that is 'critical' for healthy aging.

As you age, your NAD+ levels decrease, causing your face to lose elasticity and develop fine lines and wrinkles.

Several topical products on the market can help combat this.

The Beverly Hills skincare expert followed this up by saying that smoking also “ages you the fastest.”

Dr. Barrett added that retinol is the number one “must-have” for your skin care routine.

A key part of the video was when he told viewers one purchase they shouldn't invest in and save money in the long run, namely hyaluronic acid.

“When you apply it over your skin, it doesn't get absorbed. It doesn't do anything and your skin feels good when you apply it. But other than that, it's just a waste of money,” he said.

Not everyone was sold on his recommendation.

'I had no idea hyaluronic acid was a waste of money. Why is it so heavily preached about?' one TikTok user asked.

“But hyaluronic acid makes my skin glow thanks to the snail extract. Both work for me,” one woman commented.

Dr. Barrett responded that “it weakens your skin in the long run.”

The comments section was also filled with multiple opinions and questions.

“'Go to sleep.' I watched this at 6:35am without a single minute of sleep,” one viewer wrote.

“Free beauty hack is good sleep. I couldn't even afford it,” another added.
