prince william is set to return to New York City in September, and he’ll have a packed schedule when he lands in the Empire State.

Prince William will be attending the Earthshot Prize [Summit] and several other appointments and meetings while he is in New York for just over two days,” a source tells us exclusively Us weekly.

The Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit will be held September 19 during New York Climate Week. “William’s schedule will be very full and he is very much looking forward to his journey across the pond,” the insider said.

The 41-year-old Prince of Wales has not been to New York City for an official visit since 2014. He would return at last year’s Innovation Summit, also held in the Big Apple in September. However, he canceled his appearance after the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96. She died of natural causes just over a week before the event.

“Protecting the environment was a cause close to my grandmother’s heart and I know she would have been thrilled to hear about this event and the support you all give to our Earth Shot finalists, the next generation of environmental pioneers,” William said in a video message played at last year’s Summit. “Together in this room are the people and organizations who will help us achieve the Earthshot mission: to repair, restore and rejuvenate our planet within this current decade.”

William co-founded the Earthshot Prize in 2020 with The Royal Foundation to reward those who find, develop or scale breakthrough solutions to climate change. The aim of the organization is to reward solutions that work quickly – ideally to create a stable climate by 2030.

Bee the September summit, the first in line to the British throne will help announce this year’s 15 grand prize finalists and introduce their breakthrough climate solutions. William and Michael Bloomberg (Global Advisor to Earthshot Winners and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions) are both expected to address guests at the special presentation.

The 15 finalists announced in September will anxiously wait two months to hear which of them will be named the five winners of the Earthshot Prize Award. The third annual awards ceremony will be held in Singapore on November 7. The five winners will each receive £1 million to continue their work to prevent climate change.

William attended the Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston last year with his wife Princess Kate. Before they hit the green carpet together, they met Mayor Wu and played a Boston Celtics game.
