Business as usual for Beatrice! Princess hosts charity luncheon for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield after Sarah Ferguson’s cancer diagnosis

Princess Beatrice appeared in high spirits yesterday as she attended a charity event in Huddersfield.

The royal family, 34, hosted a luncheon for its patronage Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice – which supports children with life-shortening illnesses in West Yorkshire.

Beatrice has worked closely with the charity since 2012 when she opened their Russell House building.

The mother of a child wore a chic yellow striped pleated dress with a white jacket over it for the occasion.

The glamorous royal kept her red hair loose for the occasion and opted for minimal, natural make-up.

The politician worked closely with the charity when he was mayor of Kirklees.

Masood shared photos of the event on Twitter and wrote: ‘I was invited as a guest to meet and have lunch at The Three Acres with HRH Princess Beatrice, the Patron Saint of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, my chosen charity as Mayor of Kirklees.

‘It was nice to hear HRH Princess Beatrice talk passionately about FMNCH.

The footage showed Beatrice shaking hands warmly with the politician during the event.

In addition, the restaurant also shared images from the day on their Instagram account.

Along with a photo of Beatrice talking to staff, they shared a photo of a menu signed by the Royal Family that read, ‘Thank you for supporting Forget Me Not! With best wishes, Beatrice.’

Princess Beatrice’s latest engagement comes days after the Duchess of York announced her shock breast cancer diagnosis.

Sarah, 63, was diagnosed with an early form of the disease after a routine mammogram exam, her spokesperson said. She has been told her prognosis is good and is recovering in Windsor with her family.

In a statement, the spokesperson said Sarah wanted to “express her enormous gratitude to all the medical staff who have assisted her over the past few days.”

He added: “She is also immensely grateful to the staff involved in the mammogram that identified her disease, which was otherwise symptom-free, and believes her experience underscores the importance of regular screening.”

It is clear that she was operated on at the private King Edward VII Hospital in London, which is regularly used by the royal family. She was in hospital for five days and was released yesterday.

A spokesperson for the Duchess said: ‘Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected on a routine mammogram screening.

“She was told to have surgery and it was successful.”

On Sunday, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi were seen greeting friends on the final day of Glastonbury.
