Jaipur: In a sad incident, Congress leader Manvendra Singh Jasol's car met with a major accident on Tuesday. The accident claimed the life of his wife, Chitra Singh, while Singh and his son, Hamir Singh, were injured in the crash. The accident took place on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Alwar in Rajasthan.

Son of late BJP leader Jaswant Singh injured

Former Barmer MP Manvendra Singh is the son of late BJP leader Jaswant Singh. Additional Superintendent of Police Tejpal Singh said former MP Manvendra Singh was going from Delhi to Jaipur along with his family.

“Manvendra Singh himself was driving the car. His wife sat next to him. Hamir Singh and driver Dinesh were in the back seat. His car collided with a culvert near Khushpuri village. His wife, Chitra Singh, died in the process and the injured are being treated at a private hospital in Alwar,” ASP Singh said.

Doctor JS Solanki said Singh has suffered a chest injury but he is conscious.
“Chitra Singh was brought dead to the hospital and Manvendra Singh suffered a chest wound but he is conscious. Their son suffered minor injuries,” Solanki said.

Former CM of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot condoles

Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot also expressed his condolences over the death of Singh's wife and prayed for the Congress leader's speedy recovery.

“The news of the death of Chitra Singh, wife of Manvendra Singh Jasol, in a road accident is sad. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul and courage to the family. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of Manvendra Singh Jasol and other family members who were injured in the road accident,” Gehlot wrote on X.

Alwar's Additional SP Tejpal Singh said the accident happened around 5 am. There were four people including the driver in the car (Jeep Compass) who were all coming to Jaipur from Delhi. Information about the accident was received by telephone in the control room. However, no information has yet been released on how the accident happened.

Eyewitnesses said the car was traveling at high speed, drove off the road, crossed the dividing line and crashed into a wall. The people present rushed the driver to a government hospital. The driver's leg was also broken in the accident. The police officer said the other victims are out of danger.
